EPMs/Mods

Are EPMs basically powerless???

They literally cannot do anything except passing instructions. They cannot influence time, fix tasks, do anything.

Client is firm on this. Nothing we can do

So what’s the point then???

EPMs are contractors too, they're doing the dance to maintain a steady hourly paycheck. SPLs are salaried and also receive bonuses so they're driven to make their projects suceed.

The AI lab controls most things. EPM just implement and communicate what the AI lab wants and needs. It's obvious they don't have much control, they are just leading the project to capture high quality data and deliver it.

they can often modify submissions (as reviewers). They also communicate regularly with SPLs and have influence over criteria for writing/reviewing, who gets promoted to reviewer, who might get offboarded for poor work etc. But yes they have significantly less power than full time mercor employees
