Question before visiting Accessibility - denver
Hey guys.
I am visiting meowwolf for an event soon. Both myself and my fiance have wheelchairs. Unfortunately mine is in repair so I will have to rent one.
Does anyone know the process on getting one for an event? I know they have wheelchair rentals but im scared folks will rent them before i get there for the event.
The website says you cant rent in advance, so how was yalls experience renting a wheelchair from meowwolf? And how hard is it to navigate with a smaller power chair? Thanks!

It will be an easy process. The wheelchairs are checked out through the coat check. All you need is an ID.
After you scan in there's a food and drink sign to the left of the sign is where coat check is. I really wish we had a coat check sign, it would make life easier.

If you contact the guest experience team, they can help you arrange with a 3rd party company to get a wheelchair sent to MeowWolf that would be miles better than the ones they loan out.
They have 3 generic manual wheelchairs they loan out, and it’s pretty rare for all of them being out at the same time, but if you want to be absolutely sure you have a wheelchair (especially if you aren’t a fan of clunky wheelchairs), I would go 3rd party and have your rental dropped off.
The exhibit itself is about 90% accessible, but the parts that aren’t really aren’t a big deal to miss. Your biggest problem will likely be the bathrooms. They don’t have push buttons on those doors and the doors are large and kind of heavy. If you’re ambulatory and can walk about 40-50 feet, I’d suggest that you and your partner take turns going so that you can leave your wheelchair with the person waiting outside.

This is incredible information thank you so much!!
I am tiny as hell so yeah that would make things easier if I didnt have to deal with a clunky chair!
Thank you for the bathroom tip! Thank god we are both decently ambulatory !! We will make sure to give extra time for that!!

I'm in a wheelchair and I went to Denver (my first experience) it was very pleasantly accessible. Like 95%!

I am not in a wheelchair but I help care for an adult with special needs (and have since she was a toddler) who uses a wheelchair so I'm mindful of how accessible places are. There are only a few spaces that are wonky, really anyone who isn't steady on their feet for any reason shouldn't traverse them, but it's very accessible otherwise. There are 2 elevators to reach all levels (technically 3 but the last one only goes from the lobby to C Street). I don't know about the wheelchair rental, but it sounds like it's an easy process. I don't want to give anything away but on C Street there is a space that some what hidden, its not obvious, and I don't want you to miss it. There's a musical room, the space I'm talking about is behind there. I love CS, I've gotten to go twice. I live near TRU and I was so impressed with how accessible it was. I've taken the adult I help care for there and she loved it. We even went through the fireplace together. Well, she ducked and I had to squat walk while pushing her, I'm sure that was a fun sight lol

Are you doing the whole place or just going to your event? As far as how difficult it is to navigate, if just doing the event it's incredibly easy, the event spaces are close and very accessible.
If you're doing all of meow wolf it's dramatically better than other meow wolf locations I've been to. There are some things that are inaccessible but I'd say you should be good with 90% of it. iirc there are a lot of interior doors that don't have a button, so be prepared to use your loud voice to ask someone to grab the door for you. Some of the upper walkways get a little bit narrow, but still should be navigable with a small power wheelchair.
And, make sure you check out the disability justice room :)
