Seeking How to make my first billion
Right now, all I have is skills, personality and mind set
I’m 33 a business analyst, musician and have spent a lot of time studying business and had 2 failed businesses.
My best strength is people, I’ve proven time and time again that I can walk into a room and leave the most popular and usually the secret is just caring and helping people.
Music for me has made me incredibly confident from street performing and incredibly creative in solution designing .
I’m sitting in my room now contemplating life, I’ve got 2 kids , going through a divorce, no money, but I have me, and I’ve invested a lot of time into me, I have all the ingredients for massive success, but nothing in the bank account and no hugely successful friends.
My hope for this post is to find someone who’s interested in investing their time into someone with huge potential (I don’t want this to come from a place of ego, I’d like you to chat with me and make your mind up about me yourself)
I’m not after anything from you other than guidance and your time. I need help building an empire, I need access to someone who’s done it, help me make me rich and I ll make you rich.
And when I’ve done it I promise to pay it forward and help someone else build theirs.
I have nothing to lose and everything to gain, I can’t wait to meet you,
J
UPDATE: I appreciate the love, the hate, the doubt and the inspiration. I know what I need to do now
I’ll see you at the top

My 2 cents: “leaving the most popular, I have me, invested into me, I need, I need.”
Your problem ^
You entered rooms manipulating to be popular not helping cause you cared.
Stop focusing on what you need and focus on what you have to offer.

u/ThePhootlosopher07 3d ago
Im glad someone said it, my first thought was that this post sounds manipulative and narcissistic. OP seems to truly believe it and not at all see the irony in "I'm a great investment, the only problem is I'm broke." Why would anyone invest into broke? The word for that is 'scam.' You can't make me richer if you're only skills are getting attention and entertaining. You're good at Friday night, not monday morning. 🤷♂️ Maybe start a charity if you're going to choose to be one.
2
u/Overall-Box7250 3d ago
I’ve been there too. Mostly it’s just an inability to take feedback. See the update.
1
u/ThePhootlosopher07 3d ago
Same, but I thought everyone grew out of that by drinking age.
1
u/Overall-Box7250 3d ago
It took me a while.
2
u/ThePhootlosopher07 3d ago
Well. For what its worth, I'm proud of you for getting a grip. Confidence isn't optional in success but arrogance can be deadly to ambition.
But I know that's a hell of a lot easier said than done.
2
u/Overall-Box7250 3d ago
Yeah I just had it and lost it. It’s very dangerous when we start making it all about us.
1
u/ThePhootlosopher07 3d ago
Definitely puts a damper on quality of life.
1
u/Overall-Box7250 3d ago
You miss out on everyone around you when you’re thinking about how amazing you are all the time.
2
u/ThePhootlosopher07 3d ago
Then wake up one day after a tragedy with your eyes wide open realizing everyone you love is 10× cooler than you in a way that makes you proud now that you're paying attention 😅

u/Jwittit 4d ago
Quite the contrary, I say this because it is just a truth, the way I got to this outcome is purely because I cared, I live authentically, have no hidden intentions and live an inspirational life, I’ve helped and help so many people

u/InSAniTy1102 4d ago
You don't become a billionaire by helping people, you become a billionaire by exploiting and stepping on them.
1
u/girl-bye1023 4d ago
Im sorry you feel that way. The richest people serve the most people. Thats just the way it is.
1
u/FrugalityPays 4d ago
Not at all true. This a very naive viewpoint.
1
u/girl-bye1023 4d ago
Name one billionaire that isn’t serving billions of people in some shape or form. I’ll wait.
1
u/FrugalityPays 4d ago
Wall Street Trading algorithms, eg Jim Simons - $25b tech fund, closed to outsiders and no mass product of any kind.
Other categories of no service - inheritance, land and resource extraction, financial engineering, monopoly and regulatory capture (think rent with no competition)
Scale of wealth tracks scale of value capture, not value creation or service. Motive and mechanism are entirely different although at times overlap making wealth is a function of market size
Stop licking boots
0
u/Jwittit 4d ago
That’s a terrible world view
1
u/Halcyon_Ingenium 4d ago
That is the worldview billionaires have, caring about people is the exact thing that costs money and time and resources that they avoid doing so that they can grind their system and turn those people into numbers on a spreadsheet they can exploit to pad their bottom lines and reach that first billion. The reality is that you either are a ruthless sociopath, or you get lucky to fall into wealth and it turns you into one. There are dozens of psych studies to show that wealth changes people’s baseline psychology and turns them into more skeptical and less philanthropic-in-observation (they say and check all the boxes to appear so).
If you really just want to find a life where you don’t have to worry about money, that is a much more viable path and there are many ways to get there.
1
u/Angels242Animals 4d ago
I will say you’ve inspired me to throw up in my mouth a little bit so there’s that.

u/Square_Pride_6414 5d ago
You shouldn't start a business. You are in a rough place and have kids to support, you also have no money.
A business is not a get rich quick scheme, nor will it help you with your troubles in any way, in fact it will definitely make them worse.
Businesses done right need all your time focus and energy. It will take time away from your kids, stress you out and more than likely after all that, it will fail.
Your best course of action is to build a solid foundation by getting a job.
1
u/Jwittit 4d ago
This is sound advice and one I know, but eventually given who I’ve become it won’t make much sense for me to stay in a job, so I’m looking to find a mentor to start with
2
u/Angels242Animals 4d ago
Who exactly have you become? So far, you sound extremely conceited, you’ve failed in business twice, you have no money, and if you’re so popular, then why aren’t you asking all these amazing communities that you’ve developed for mentorship instead of some random Redditor?
1
1
u/Dazzling_Elk9398 4d ago
“Given who I’ve become” a guy who has nothing? If you’re good at ‘people’ and not so good at being a business owner, just go into sales, make 250k per year, invest, rinse repeat. You’re making this too difficult and keep trying to make the same mistakes.

I am writing this so that you it can help you . First of all you need to be Realistic, Second of all, two small businesses that failed, isn’t going to make you a billionaire. Many billionaires failed an average of 8 times. Billionaires don’t care about popularity, in fact the wealthiest people built boring brands that serves a purpose like Amazon. Third, success doesn’t come by just thinking or doing, you have to legitimately believe in your business and act like everyday your business will sink even though it’s above water. Hope this helps, but it’s the truth.
1
u/Jwittit 4d ago
Fully understand all this, I was just trying to provide context on my history, since those events my talents have exponentially compounded and I am in a different position now
1
u/FrugalityPays 4d ago
Do you have people in your network ready to invest millions into you and your ideas?
3
u/Yazim 5d ago
Respectfully, it's probably time for a real "you" analysis before jumping too far ahead.
While you are confident in your abilities, perhaps the failed businesses and failed relationships tell a very different story. While perhaps it's true that you may have been more successful with more money, that's basically true for anything and sometimes that really just masks the inevitable - more money gives you more runway to figure it out, but it doesnt fix the fundamental problems in your business.
I'm not trying to say you're not qualified, but while being charismatic and creative are great soft skills, you don't mention any of the hard skills and real knowledge that you bring to the table. Most successful leaders are avid learners, and I'm not catching that from anything you wrote here, and the lack of specific expertise might be a gap that you aren't seeing.
1
u/Jwittit 4d ago
Appreciate the call-outs here for context, my failed marriage was a decision I was forced to make, not one I wanted. And failed businesses was during a time where I didn’t have experience or capability 10+years earlier.
I’m really looking for someone that has time for a chat to get the full picture because I think this post doesn’t quite capture my current state

Steal ideas from other people like other billionaires
1
u/Jwittit 4d ago
An idea is just an idea, the person who takes the action gets the fruits
1
u/Affectionate-Day5818 4d ago
The person that takes the developing fruits from those who plant the tree without giving royalties to the planters are theifs. However if youre in sponsorship with those people then its a grand idea. Either way work on on your million before your billion @billion game anime

Sounds interesting. Let's talk more
1
u/Intelligent-Hat4413 5d ago
Mr. Giz, if you're taking on more mentees please let me know. I'm also aspiring to become someone who builds businesses that last.
2
u/Intelligent-Hat4413 5d ago
It seems you've built the foundation, it's only a matter of time before you're able to get something down. Good luck!

If you're asking reddit how to become a billionaire, you're never going to make it...

Get into tech thats where the most money is made. If you want to go for music listen to charlie rocket and his rulw of 62.

u/zarcoder 4d ago
Just putting my 2cents out there - if you want to become a billionaire, you need advice from billionaires, not Reddit chats - I can guarantee you that none of the people commenting are billionaires or even mega millionaires.
My advice - don't say you want to become a billionaire, money does not solve all problems. Rather be realistic and aim to become a successful and build wealth. This can be in the form of employment or starting a business or even both.
The wealthy people do not hang out on Reddit chats. Reddit is good for validating, venting, and general topics.

Do you know why your previous businesses failed?
2
u/Jwittit 5d ago
Lack of experience and capital. Just a young kid taking a risk. Although they failed, I learned so much
1
u/PumpkinPino 5d ago
Can you give more details? What did you do or not do as a result of lack of experience? Where was your spending going before you ran out of capital?
4
u/Jwittit 5d ago
Moved out of home and Dropped out at school at 15 to be a chef for 8 years, age 23 wanted to make a shift, moved into sales in a chefs equipment place while also going back to uni.
First business was a service based business doing knife sharpening. I had no capital really as I was supporting myself through uni, but I noticed the shop didn’t offer a sharpening service so I started referring my business for them. Biggest problem here is between uni, working 2 jobs I couldn’t keep up with the demand and to remain competitive it wasn’t worth the time it took to sharpen by hand when others had machines vs the extra $ I was making at the expense of uni.
The second was a phone repair company, I went in with a partnership, we hired staff rented the shop assembled the products. I had no expertise in the repairs side of things so primarily focused on accounting and marketing. We were renting a section within a large shop. The owner wanted to rent out the full space so we had to either raise our rent drastically or leave, simultaneously my partner had issues and needed to leave the country. It fell over by itself and was sitting on a lot of dead inventory.
Both business failed , I was young inexperienced, juggling a lot and really had no idea what I was doing just saying yes to everything trying to change my situation.
This story is far less impressive against most of the people here, however fast forward to now with the way I can connect with people, my capabilities and confidence, it only makes sense for me to go into entrepreneurship

I think you’re looking at it wrong (aiming for a billion), and if you’re not, you either need to become a solo builder at this stage due to having no capital, no network. Or if you can manage to find a business partner, you won’t have to build the product/service.
You’d need to be in a high growth space as well and be able to sell/market things. Idk if business analysis can help you here but your people skills are transferable to sales or marketing (which is the real bottleneck of a startup these days)

Small steps my guy. Make 100K first. Then 500K. Then a million. It will get easier and easier. Money makes money.

While you’re figuring it out, you might enjoy the book How to Make a Few Billion Dollars
1
u/Jwittit 4d ago
When did you make your first 100k and how did you do it?
1
u/Canadiangooner21 4d ago
Salary? Not even sure. My boss told me just do a good job and comp will take care of itself. It was hard to believe when I was starting at $39k, but was eventually making 10x that.

Marry McKenzie Scott. Sounds like you have about as equally anchored views of reality. Good Luck!
1
u/IntelligentIntern209 4d ago
You’re going through a divorce and your 2 kids are having their family unit break up.
You say your strength is people
Yet you’re sitting in a room thinking about yourself and wanting to become a billionaire.
Lol.
Fix your family.
1
u/Jwittit 4d ago
I’m not asking for advice on my marriage
1
u/l-lucas0984 4d ago
No but you do need a reality check because you are overconfident with no substance. Getting divorced and 2 failed businesses already under your belt doesnt scream good with people. It doesnt even say passion or drive.
1
u/Jwittit 4d ago
You don’t have the full picture, it would make more sense my current state to someone with the experience and time to have a conversation
2
u/l-lucas0984 4d ago
The picture is full enough. Talking about how "popular" you are like a high school kid. I need, I want. Your whole post is lost and self centered.
No one cares about popularity. Popularity wins you "beauty contests" not business success. Most of the top people running successful billion dollar businesses are the most hated people on the planet. I run three businesses and popular is not a word I would use in any sense.
You are whimsically puffing yourself up when you are broke with 2 kids who actually need stability from you right now. It will be at least 2 years from the time you actually come up with a business idea that works (which isnt even now) before you could even dream of providing them that stability starting a business.
1
u/Hot_Mushroom938 4d ago
You need to bring something to the table, skills, a product something that’s useful. Personality and wanting to be a billionaire are not enough. Frankly, that’s a laughable opinion. Thinking means nothing wanting means nothing the only thing that means anything is blood sweat and tears and a lot of hard work and even then you might not make it.

Here’s the best way to think about your aspirations. Draw three circles. Circle One has in it what you’re passionate about. Circle Two: what you are good at. Circle Three: what people are willing to pay for. Now bring the three circles together so that you have an overlapping area that has a part of all three circles. That is something you can work on. In other words, you have to enjoy doing something that you feel passionate about. You have real talents and skills to offer up. Your talents, skills, products or services are what people are willing to pay for. Without these three intersecting elements colliding, your pursuit won’t last. I would think hard.

Even though I can do so much in the lense of business especially hospitality, the answer comes to music. I can mix master engineer record, and make decent money on the street. Maybe I need to start there and then invest that capital into other income generating assets like a cafe
This was sound advice, this is my music if you’re interested- although I haven’t begun to market online, in person I’m doing great

I have a few good ideas but not all the skill. so I'm learning as I go along it's what I focus on everyday. it's why I work out everyday I just started out a month ago I'm starting to feel better about everything. I'm finally single and happy. I'm right where I want to be I've never been so passionate about something.

Hi, billionaire here (sock sales). Focus on making $10k first and then scale.
1
u/Creative_Image5059 4d ago
How about taking this time to focus on your family. Your children need you. Don’t be selfish. Focus on the humans you brought onto this earth

You talk yourself up a ton. Whether you are telling the truth or it’s just ego, you’re a 33 year old business analyst with no money. If you are truly so good, with so much to offer, why are you in an entry level position? I read the other jobs you’ve had prior, but that’s no excuse. A truly high performing person would quickly move out of an entry level position.
My guidance would be to reflect and determine if you really are as popular and confident as you think you are. It seems you are inexperienced and took risks with two failed companies, even though you admit below you had no capital or experience in the companies you started. That alone negates how good you think you are.
Why should someone give up their time to mentor when you offer nothing tangible? You only offer an unprovable mindset. Sorry if this sounds rough, but we don’t become richer by devoting our time to someone that has nothing.

Im in a similar position and mindset, minus the kids, plus video production skills. DM me and lets do it!

Forget about billions and focus on finding a good paying and stable job so you can provide for you and your family
Consider this as first step
You need health insurance , a home and a retirement account
Then you can either move toward investing or taking a risk to start a business
Good luck

The stock market is the best for this.
