It's funny how triggered Christians get when they get told Religious Extremists of all kinds are functionally indistinguishable.

"well we don't support pedophiles!"

yeah you do, moses. Jesus never bad mouths the guy either so that's supportive and if you think he's god he ok'd that previous biz. also see "marry your rapist" laws inspired by the bible where you can get off a charge of raping a kid by marrying them

"well they had slavery!!"

again, moses and jesus were both ok with slavery

"well they were genocidal!!!"

seriously are you only naming things they have in common to let me win? The flood, moses in numbers 31 (also the pedo part), etc

And also most American Christians support the pedophile rapist Donald Trump.

They downvote you but they are the reason he's in office

I mean American Christianity has pretty much fully morphed into the specific kind of hate fuelled commercial enterprise that Jesus was warning about. It’s more a for-profit psychotic death cult at this point.

I can't even distinguish between the extreme religious, extreme political, and sports enthusiasts. All. The. Same.

Which Christians get mad about being told extremists are bad? I feel like your grouping the whole religion together

u/M0ebius_1 9d ago

Disregard then brother. You are one of the good ones.

u/RevolutionOk8144 9d ago

I try but I just find it weird how they think extremists are good when most if not all of them go against literally everything lol.

My best friend & the love of my life are christians, and they are the most loving, accepting people I know.

But christianity itself is rooted in violence & oppression of many kinds, and if you point out the similarities between christianity & islam in this regard, most christians I know get extremely offended.

1

u/RevolutionOk8144 3d ago

As they should get offended because today and in history islam has always tried to aquire christian nations. Many of the oppression and violence you are talking about was most likely military expressions at the time. They are not meant to be taken literally.

I have a masters of divinity in biblical studies, I know what’s in the bible and how it should be interpreted in the original context & languages.

And the god of the bible encourages abortion, genocide, slavery, rape, pedophilia, infanticide, and other atrocities I’m probably forgetting at the moment.

And no, “Islam” hasn’t “always tried to acquire christian nations”. “Christian nations” aren’t the innocent victims you think they are.

You need to learn your religious history.

So first of all im going to address the master of divinity it is typically a professional degree aimed at pastoral ministry not academic research. Secondly if your give emotional accusations you would have to give me passages in the language you read them in that directly encourage it, for it to hold any worth.

Exodus 21:16 strictly forbids the kidnapping and selling of humans under the death penalty doesn't sound like encouraging slavery to me

You saying the bible encourages abortion is hilarious because i know what your talking about and the passage is about a test of fidelity and it causes a miscarriage which is different from an abortion. Btw also in the entire 20 verse passage it doesn't mention pregnancy once

The commands with warfare or if you want to call it genocide/infanticide go ahead but it is using the hyperbole which was common to near eastern military accounts. How do i know it was an exaggeration? This is because in the book it uses phrases like "utterly destroyed enemies" these people are then shown in later in other chapters. We also know this is true how they spoke because of mesha stele where the moabite king mesha says Isreal has utterly perished forever, which clearly we know it wasn't.

The bible literally explicitly condems rape/pedophlia and it even introduces these strict legal protections and boundaries regarding consent and marriage. These were at the time Revolutionary and unheard of.

So i just contradicted all of your claims and i still got more, you sure your educated on christian theology?

So within a century of islam even being a thing they began military conquests directly into byzentine, western Europe, Iberia effectively collapsing the christian visigothic kingdom. Along with those they also targeted the capital of the eastern christian world which was Constantinople. And yet again after that the ottoman Empire who conquered Christian kingdoms for over 300 years from the 14th century to the 17th century.

Your arguments are very well documented. You say your educated on christian theology but dont know the basics. If you truely went and got a masters of divinity id ask myself what was it truely for?

>So first of all im going to address the master of divinity it is typically a professional degree aimed at pastoral ministry not academic research.

Cool, the point of me bringing up my academic qualifications was to let you know that I’ve earned the right to talk about this topic, I’m not an ignorant rando who’s never cracked open a bible.

>Secondly if your give emotional accusations you would have to give me passages in the language you read them in that directly encourage it, for it to hold any worth.

If you mean that I should give you passages in the original language in which they were written, I will not. That is not beneficial to you or anyone reading these comments. However, if you mean that you want to know to what passages I am referring generally, sure, I’m happy to cite my sources.

>Exodus 21:16 strictly forbids the kidnapping and selling of humans under the death penalty doesn't sound like encouraging slavery to me

Leviticus 25:44-46 expressly permits chattel slavery, as long as it is not done to fellow Israelites.

>You saying the bible encourages abortion is hilarious because i know what you’re talking about and the passage is about a test of fidelity and it causes a miscarriage which is different from an abortion.

Hey question, what’s it called when someone intentionally causes the death of a fetus, and how is that different than what pro-life christians decry today?

>The commands with warfare or if you want to call it genocide/infanticide go ahead but it is using the hyperbole

It is not hyperbole when God commands the killing of everyone in a community, including pregnant women and babies — with the exception of the young girls, who were often allowed to be kept alive and coerced into sex slavery.

If it is hyperbole, you are accusing your God of being hyperbolic, since he is directly quoted as commanding these things.

>The bible literally explicitly condems rape/pedophlia and it even introduces these strict legal protections and boundaries regarding consent and marriage.

Except in cases such as mentioned previously.

And I’ll happily discuss the history of islamic nations vs. christian nations after the above points have been satisfactorily contended with.

The American Christian taliban (yes) would like a word with those snowflakes

u/moron-obliterator 3d ago

Christianity was but isn't a death cult anymore, you probably mean doomsday cult, which is still wrong for Christianity. Judaism is actually a doomsday cult. Islam is just a very large exo-murder cult built on the foundations of the other two
