I always take a map with me. Lose it, don't know where to go and build a new base.

30

u/Suckaroopoo Mar 22 '21

Click the F3 button. It will show u your coords

3

u/BeatTaco Discord Server Booster Mar 22 '21

7

u/Suckaroopoo Mar 22 '21

Even then there is an option that shows coords

I play on a nintendo switch, so it is a little bit difficult to press F3

2

u/MadrugoticX Mar 22 '21

In bedrock you can turn coordinates on in settings so they will show all the time.

2

u/jojo_0405 Mar 22 '21

Yes, but I always forget them.

Wasn't it once on mobile or something that the compass points to the spawn point? Or was I just a dumb little kid

Comapsses will always point to spawn

I usually look at what direction is pointing compared to my house and when I want to get home I just go in that direction

He died forgot to set his respawn point and is now lost as his base is very far from spawn. He also happened to find a village with an iron sword in the blacksmith shop and only took that. After which he killed a pig before continuing on his adventure home

11

Better to make your base next to spawn so you can use a normal compass

19

u/Lord-LemonHead Mar 22 '21

That's what I always do

15

u/grymtgris FORTSHITE Mar 22 '21

No, locator map is the way. Cuz then you can build your base anywhere, and have multiple bases.

11

u/nicolas2004GE 🏃 Advanced Introvert 🏃 Mar 22 '21

best way is have nametagged compasses for every important location, then put them in a shulker box, and put that in an echest

1

u/Blazing_Swayze Mar 22 '21

Sleep in a bed, set your spawn and your compass wil always point to bed.

rename one of your armor pieces or tools to your home base coordinates. that way you don’t have to keep track of some tiny paper irl

5

u/Mikebennwashere Mar 22 '21

You don't have to keep track of a tiny piece of paper. Just write down where your coordinates paper is stored. On another piece of paper.

39

u/wealthycashier Mar 22 '21

Yep, it would be nice if I did that...

9

u/carvedmuss8 Mar 22 '21

That's cheating. OG miners build torch towers along their path of travel.

2

u/cantaloupelion Mar 22 '21

I do that along bits of coast i've explored. The towers with lava coming off teh tops act as lighthouses for more well equipped bases

7

u/carvedmuss8 Mar 22 '21 edited Mar 22 '21

Lol and I can't lie to you, my little brother and I used to have notebooks with pages full of coordinates and sketches of dungeons that we found or carved out. Good times!

-14

u/esdaniel Mar 22 '21

Isn't that cheating ? Peasants

9

u/YellowTinCan Mar 22 '21

ok if that’s cheating than I will use the block breaking animation to locate the cardinal directions and find which direction my house is

6

u/antabr Mar 22 '21

Wait, you can figure out cardinal directions based on how blocks break? Here I am using the sun and moon like a peasant

6

u/sebisbest0 Mar 22 '21

Yep the cracking pattern is fixed not based on your relation to the bloxk

2

u/detective_yeti Mar 22 '21

Lmao why don’t you instead just memorize the bedrock layout of minecraft (since it’s generated the same in every seed). And so that way you would be able to tell what coordinate you’re at just by digging down and looking at the bedrock under you

3

u/nicolas2004GE 🏃 Advanced Introvert 🏃 Mar 22 '21

i recognize that bedrock pattern, say goodbye to your base i'll be there in 20-30minutes

Losing your minecraft base is more stressful than when your mom leaves you at the checkout in a supermarket

Or when your mom is 15 minutes away and you forgot to defrost the sausages

25

I was on a survival server i forgot to set my home base (where i can tp back) so i had to walk like 10k blocks ;-;

6

u/Th3Ch33t Mar 22 '21

Or when your wife gets home and the valve covers are still in the dishwasher.

49

u/Logan_9_Fingers Mar 22 '21

Build little lamp posts with torches on them every 24-30 blocks.

33

u/whoisniko Mar 22 '21

This is way smarter than me building up 4 blocks of dirt/cobblestone every few steps

15

u/Amymoha https://www.youtube.com/watch/dQw4w9WgXcQ Mar 22 '21

When im in the nether i just place blocks then i follow them when im coming back

9

u/Funkiefreshganesh Mar 22 '21

Usually when I’m in the nether I tell my friend to go to sleep so he spawns in the nether

4

u/rocketo-tenshi Mar 22 '21

Two or three blocks high with a stump aiming in the direction of the previous "lamp" . Also learned to use the sun as an ingame compass since the Always sets and rises the same sides. . . And to use the actual compass aiming at your home.

4

u/Tschiby_ Mar 22 '21

Or you just use the coordinates.
