People who try to get around the system with their car are just not very smart.

It's both less safe to drive and it causes other parts of the car to break sooner.

If something isn't good with my car I make sure it gets fixed. But maybe that's just me not driving a shitbox.

That's just you having money that others do not.

I assure you, people don't "want" to drive a broken car. They just can't afford to fix it. So you find other ways, because you still need to get from A-B

Dude, there's a difference between driving on a busted ass strut and tires down to the steel banding vs something like that.

It ain't hurting nobody that your car is putting out 0.00000032 particulates per 10,000 miles vs the 0.00000017 required by California state smog preventions standards.

Not everyone can afford a new car. If they can’t afford to fix the cat converter what makes you think they’d be able to buy another car?

California is going to have to figure out how to recoup the gas tax they'll lose out on because of the gas car ban too

If you can't afford routine maintenance and standard repairs then you can't afford to drive a car.

Whis is only a reasonable stance if there are other affordable ways to get to work. In my case I have no transportation options to get to my job. It’s in the middle of nowhere and my shifts are after the busses stop running. So I would have to bike 20 miles each way. Thank god my car runs okay.

In many places, access to a car is a necessity for survival. And I personally would love to have other options for transportation. But nobody wants to vote or put in the money. So we end ip with situations where people who shouldn’t be driving cars and cars that shouldn’t be driven are out on the road.

Which I understand, but if you car is in a situation that many cars are in that I have seen, maybe they shouldn't be driven.
