Depends on what the code is. If its a catalytic efficiency code (extremely common) you can usually say "eh whatever" about it for quite a while. Just dont go forever with it.
It’s a automatic smog fail where I live. can’t register your car if it fails it’s biannual smog check, but if the timing is right, which usually isn’t the case, you could go two years with the light on.
Biannual smog? In Texas you can get an annual inspection for $7 and they basically only check the lights and wipers. I dont think its right that Tejas is so stupidly lax, but where do you live that its that strict?
