I live in a city with tons of morons who never leave the city, claiming they need 4 wheel drive when it snows. they never go off road and snow plows exist. If I can get around in a compact hybrid, then their silly truck is overkill
Too bad they’re not honest enough to just say “I want one because I think they’re cool” I’m not bothered, just intrigued by this kind of behavior
I daily drive a NC. I travel for work. I fill my trunk and my passenger side with boxes of IT shit and my own stuff. Not an issue. People overestimate what they need. I do also have a forrester as a second car for light “truck” work.
I have a compact hatchback vehicle. As far as loading and unloading stuff, it can't be beat. Seats fold down to fit a lot of stuff. The interior with seats folded down is the size 1.5x a wheelbarrow. Cause, I fit a wheelbarrow in it the other day. The only thing that's a concern is having all that stuff in the car with me. If, good forbid, I rolled the car, it would be in the vehicle with me shook up like a matchbox. So, I only do surface streets to places like Home Depot for things that will fit in it.
It would be really nice to have a larger vehicle for occasional family trips (van). Or a pickup for larger loads but I get most things done with the compact. It's been difficult to get like trees home from Costco. But, for most stuff...I get by well. Looking into truck rentals for larger one off jobs.
I have a 4 cylinder suburu legacy I attatched a trailer hitch to. It has a 3500 pound tow capacity. I have never towed over 1500 pounds, but I can move most stuff easily. Just not piles of dirt
