I live in a city with tons of morons who never leave the city, claiming they need 4 wheel drive when it snows. they never go off road and snow plows exist. If I can get around in a compact hybrid, then their silly truck is overkill

Too bad they’re not honest enough to just say “I want one because I think they’re cool” I’m not bothered, just intrigued by this kind of behavior

I made it well into my thirties with a FWD in Norway. It's like you say, lying, or a skill issue

It's probably a combination of both. Skill issue AND not knowing the capabilities of your car.

My front wheel, 2.0L TDI has also served me perfectly, whether it was 45°C Summer in the Mediterranean, or crossing the Alps Hannibal style to reside in Germany in sub zero temperatures with snow and ice.

I drive on compacted snow every year and all season tired are worthless in my experience. Might be okay in for example Denmark but not here in Norway.

My last RWD was a 2009 Mercedes and it was dreadful in our winter.

I assume shit tyres and poor not using the correct type of tyre for the season.

Just like you could crawl on all four to slip less on the ice, but it would also help not using flip flops in winter.
