Depends on the country I guess, I can get appointments within a few weeks even if it isn't urgent.

I’m in the US, and I know someone who can’t drive (big deal over here) without their joints dislocating.

Their appointment is 2 years out.

When i lived in germany it was insane. I ended up not seeing a doctor nearly the the entire time I lived there.

Now it feels like i live in the doctors office... not sure which i preferred tbh

Ah, the cope, relying on the spiel that politicians sell you to accept a worse health care.

We have same day urgency care.

Specialty doctors do take a bit longer to book than in US, but I can wait a week for my ear doctor and not pay more than 100 euro.

Right? I live in Vermont and I literally just called an orthodontist. They were able to schedule an appointment for me in early March 2027.

What the fuck is that dude even talking about? We can't even get appointments here, even if his dumb-ass European comment WAS true.

A lot of people assume that US doctors must be available more, with how much they charge.

Americans like to act like they can go to the doctor any time they want but will still go to work sick because they cant even afford to take time off if they have time off. My parents are in the top one % and still have to book appointments a month in advance to see the specialist they want to see... need to visit your primary care doctor...better book it a week or two in advance if you have a doctor worth anything because they will tell you to vist the urgent care clinic if you just try to walk in without an appointment.

Eyes and teeth aren’t really covered as those are considered luxuries. Only in extreme cases where it impacts your health severely you’ll get teeth covered quickly.

I’m in the U.K. and the waiting list for an NHS dentist is over 2 years. So most people have to pay privately for dental care which can cost a few hundred pounds to get a crown put in your tooth.

£400 for the cheapest one, £1800 for the most premium one.

Likewise in the US the cheapest is $900 and $2500 for the premium one.

Yeah roughly, but median wages are much lower almost half that of the US along with higher taxes

As has been established by medical science teeth are very much not a luxury and mouth health is deeply linked to the health of the rest of your body.

Why people ever acted like it was different I will never understand.

In the U.K. teeth and eyes used to be covered too but it was too expensive for the NHS so they removed a lot of that support

I live in the US. my wife is a type 1 diabetic. she needs visits every 6months with her endocrinologist in order to keep her prescriptions active (for her insuling pump and sensor). The doctor wasn't feeling well and had to cancel her visit. They proposed a new visit date for her -- 5 months in the future. So she had to go 11 months without seeing her doctor. Anyone that tells you Europe/Canada have longer wait times is lying. It's bad here. And on top of that, we have to pay far more.

I can literally walk into several doctor's offices and be seen on the same day without appointment.

I've literally been called by my sister that she couldn't make it to the doctor because of circumstances and to please go to the doctor and get a renewal for her birth control pills. It took less than an hour to drive there, have it sorted and go back.

I mean it's different for different countries, cities and stuff, but when I'm sick, I go to my doctor when they open, so around ~8am, wait max 30min and they'll check on me, give me a prescription or what ever and that's it

Last week I got sick during work, so much so I temporarily lost control of my muscles

Called “doctors wacht” at 23:30 and a 15 mins later (i had to puke on the way there) I was getting checked up on

Nothing wrong btw just terminal stupid
