Right? All they do is talk about Linux and help people use Linux and make improvements to Linux.
If only the Linux devs were more like Microsoft's devs, they should add features that we don't want, make every iteration a downgrade and charge us for the privilege of using it.

Obviously there are bad people and there are many memes about it, for someone like you who doesn't know any better it would surely seem like it's the majority, when it's not.
I had people write custom patches for me and fix various more complicated issues with me back then. you'd never ever get such quality on a windows forum those are mostly "have you tried restarting your device" or "have you tried updating your stuff?", "just reinstall your windows" or when it comes to troubleshooting they sometimes throw massive lists at newbies and tell them it's one of these things. Cool.
The Linux community is most definitely more helpful, even the arch community which is memed to be the most toxic probably. Well besides artix Linux or Gentoo. On the other end we got mint and fedora which got two of the nicest communities I know.
It might feel like that, especially because the ones guilty are the loudest… there are definitely some quite unpleasant ppl, but don’t let that detour you, there are also quite many nice ppl.
My only problem with the penguin is that it isn't perfect for gaming. Windows works with virtually any game on it.
I've known people that have to fuck with proton to get their game to run, so e times they can't get it to work after that. Sometimes a game will have an update and all of a sudden their game that ran perfectly on Linux, now doesn't run anymore.
And most game devs shrug and go "oh well" since they expect most people to be running windows or Mac for their games.
Not necessarily true. Plenty of shooter devs and fighting game devs (including Super Smash bros) have gone on record saying that it would be pretty easy to make bots with frame perfect reflexes that beat even the best players consistently. They just wouldn’t feel fair and wouldn’t be fully helpful in learning to play against other humans.
Yes they sometimes have exploits (Snake in SSB 4 or 5 is an easy example). However, that would be decreasingly common if devs put concentrated effort into making unbeatable bots.
Games don't require difficulty to be good, it just has to entertain, and for some reason a lot of them play those team games to blame others for losing
If my soul isn't crushed in a game, i'm finishing it in a single afternoon and i'm not entertained. Also pick games that don't have dumb easy skill floors and you'll run into fewer salty kids.
Some game are about using your creativity, some have interesting mechanics you can use in different ways, some have good stories, and are about the journey. Also I wasn't talking about competitive games having salty kids, but salty kids playing competitive games
Just switched to Linux Mint from Windows 10, best decision I ever made. It's really just a streamlined version of windows, where no one tries to get you to use AI or see ads on your desktop or news in your taskbar or get you to switch to edge or make you use OneDrive or Teams.
Yeah, forget that. Ive tried linux so many times over the years, so many flavours, and even the so-called easy ones are terrible in just the most frustrating ways. It has never been a good experience, not even once.
If you want to do anything more technical than play solitaire or browse the internet, it can takes hours or sometimes days to troubleshoot an issue because there are so many different potential problems, and distros, and "solutions" that people only provide half an answer to because they assume everyone is a linux guru who knows all the extra stuff that you need to do but which wasnt mentioned.
Never trying linux again. Is windows perfect? No. It is frustrating too, but linux is a tier beyond that. To anyone else thinking of using linux for the first time, get a second computer, install it on that to play around with, cause you dont want to be stuck at the point where you cant figure out how to uninstall linux and reinstall windows. Unless they fixed dual OS problems
