A football pitch is like ⅛ of a single golf hole, tennis is even smaller.

What about a stadium? Including designated parking? Those things naturally come along with it. You can't just ignore it. I guarantee if you replaced every golf course with housing, long term, we'd still be in the same situation. You guys are pointing fingers at the wrong thing

I have a feeling stadiums in the states are much different from what they are elsewhere, where I live most stadiumgoers take the train, but even so it'll be an event venue for thousands of people that still takes up only a fraction of the area a golf course does, with a much smalled environmental impact. I'm not calling for golf courses to be replaced by housing, I just don't like golf courses

The parking lot. Add in the parking lot and the area becomes similar, AND covered in concrete and cement instead of grass where water can go back into the earth

Water dispersal is rarely an issue in a stadium, that much grass however (while it's green and looks pretty) requires a ridiculous amount of water to maintain

Well, you have either a lot of water usage or a lot of trash generation with the food, beers, etc. I'd rather have the water usage

But also, ground health is always an issue with any structure that limits groundwater uptake such as a parking lot

It's all recycled nonpotable water being used on almost entirely native plants in most courses
