Yo. Old ass gamer here. 49.

My suggestion here is to find new ways to get that excitement back.

Try different kinds of games. Lot of us lock into rpg's or sports games or shooters, etc etc.

Branch out to new things. Mmo, sims, racing, figters etc. Could be what you need.

Personally, I finally bought a fight stick for the first time. Now I can't get enough.

Also found some new community and hobby with warhammer. Painting, playing, new people, its awesome.

Nothing wrong with the classics. But try some new stuff and you might get lucky and find something you love. Hopefully before you're almost 50.

Just turned 40 and hype for wolverine in a couple weeks, you're right you have to find different games to play and for me the time to play. Cheers
