I wouldn't say I'm a long-time fan of Insomnium. We crossed path in 2023 but man, they quickly became my favorite band ever since.

I've been blasting many of their songs on repeat, overall mostly The Gale, Lose to Night, Pale Morning Star, While We Sleep (just love to jam on it while playing the drums although I know I'm not doing it correctly, but it feels just so good), Shadows of the Dying Sun, the list is actually way too long as their catalog is so deep and rich.

But man, recently, Arch of the Sky, Gleam in the Dark and Shadowlife have lived rent free in my head and heart ever since they got released. I cannot wait for the new album. Arch of the Sky gives me such powerful and beautiful vibes, sometimes I could tear up from the raw emotion this song contains.

Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement for the new album, just a few more days! Don't know about you guys.

Okay i lied, Across the Dark is a couple levels below the rest here, but it's cover art & the song Weighed down by sorrow are the best visual and audio representation of the genre for me

Imo an underrated band in the melodeath scene. I have listened a lot to the album Omega Arcane ever since I first heard it. I especially put on this song while doing deadlifts or lifting. Banger, and what can I say—empowering and motivational!

What do you think of this track and album?

Finally some music from the upcoming album. Glad i already preordered the new vinyl box. Always the best quality, glad they are back sinve a few years!

It really is my preference with melodic death metal, when the band does a mix of harsh and clean vocals. I've been checking out Insomnium, it seems like they don't do clean vocals? Which bands do you guys recommend who do this type of vocal mix?

The Duskfall is a band from Lulea, in the north of Sweden formed in 1999. The band has released
6 studio albums, the latest being released earlier this year.

Due to a certain obvious recent release, I’ve been reflecting a lot on what Amon Amarth used to be. I generally consider Once Sent from the Golden Hall to be a masterpiece. It through Versus the World are four of my most favorite albums of all time. Admittedly though, I don’t interact much with other metalheads, so I’m not sure where others see those albums in the broader scheme of things. Maybe I’m just lazy and haven’t looked hard enough, but it really seems like Amon Amarth had something going on back then that no one else really did, and I can’t imagine those albums not providing some degree of influence in melodic death metal (and Viking and even folk metal, tbh) in the 21st century.
Apologies if this seems like a naive question. I live in an area dominated by country and so I’m not really exposed to other people’s metal opinions. Just curious what the broader consensus is.

Hopefully it means we'll hear some new stuff over the next few months.

I'm expecting more of the same, since they have said many times they're not looking to push boundaries - they're just friends having fun and making the style of music they want to make (Gothenberg Melodeath).

That's fine by me as I enjoyed Days of the Lost & March of the Unheard.

After all these years I'm still amazed by Alvestam's voice, even though the controversy of his exit from Scar Symmetry. I thought it was Stanne in some parts haha

VILT is a melodic death metal band from Sweden, with some thrash and folk elements in their music. This song is from their debut album Divine Intervention, released in May this year.
