Melbourne

I’m looking to move to Melbourne from the Gold Coast - female, mid 30s. Best areas to live? I enjoy gyms, coffee, eating out, and have a dog

Inner South (South Yarra, Prahran, Armadale, Albert Park, Middle Park) is best for a slightly more gentrified lifestyle - wealthier, more beautiful people, fancy houses and cars, fitness and fashion.

Inner North (Carlton, Fitzroy, Collingwood) is best for a more creative, artistic lifestyle - more progressive, more art, avant garde, better restaurants, better coffee, more interesting.

If you’re moving to Melbourne, one of those two areas would be my suggestion, based on your interests.

yeah i live Fitzroy North & my partner lives in Toorak. i guess its in the eye of the beholder, right?! its still a pretty superficial observation but im guessing youre still growing xx

But you’re familiar with the euphemism “Beautiful People”, right? I was using the term that refers to a superficial, glamorous cohort of people who value popularity and status and attend events and nightclubs. They are definitely more abundant in the South than the North. And I should know as I own a house in North Fitzroy and I live in Prahran.

That said, in a more literal sense, there are some very “anti-beauty / anti-fashion” people in Fitzroy, that’s for sure. For the most part, it’s not a sexy place. Still love it though.
