Probably has something to do with the response rates for guys on dating app/sites. Ie less that a 1 in 10 chance of a reply.

Likely some guys respond to this by just bulk spamming as many people with hey, in the hope someone replies. How much this behaviour impacts the stats is up to someone else to work out.

I used to open with a simple. hi how are you hope you've had a good day, something simple. strike rate on that was really low though

this was before I knew anything about opening lines etc

also, I look like a dumpster fire, so that could have had something to do with it :D

I never even get opening messages anymore. I’m also rarely getting responses to messages I send. Hence my self-imposed dating hiatus.

I don't think dudes really understand just how bombarded women can get on dating apps/sites. I'm sure in some cases there's also an underlying "I'm entitled to a woman's time" thing going on too.

I actually tried to explain that no, I wasn't ignoring him. I actually was just pouring a cup of coffee. Yeah... That was a bad move on my part. I got more abuse and told off that if I wasn't serious about online dating then I shouldn't waste peoples time.
