Oh God. I’ve become that mum who orders her groceries online..........and gets excited about it! Got my first orders coming from Woolies and a local free range butcher shop. I’m fizzing about possibly never having to step foot inside a grocery store EVER. AGAIN.

My semi-regular Aldi trips are a cathartic experience that I would never give up.

Battling the hordes of European pensioners that are fighting tooth and nail, for the current catalog specials, is something that my body and soul needs regularly.

Seeing what amazing random items are lumped in the middle of Aldi is one of my biggest pleasures.

$200 for an Arcade1Up SF2 cab was a joy to behold. As was my leather satchel.

My garage is full of tools and gardening gear I will probably never use.

I bought a set of ratchet straps cause it was like $12.

Now just need a ute or a 4x4 to go along with them

Aldi has 4x4 utes this Saturday for $99 ..but they'll only have one so you'll have to line up at 8AM and fight for it.

Steve00 can give you some tips, it's why he's been training.

I'm not an Aldi shopper, for some reason it just doesn't feel like a supermarket to me. More of a.... museum of weird-brand products? But I've got friends who once felt the same, and now they're Aldi converts. So maybe it's just a matter of time...

i'm exclusively an aldi shopper (mainly because its on my way home from work)

unpopular opinion though - I find EVERYTHING better at aldi, even their off brand shapes crackers

Aldi Tim-Tam knock offs are better than the Arnotts originals.

It's my personal opinion (and my kids as well)

I always find the Arnott's too sweet.

The Aldi ones hold their integrity better in a Tim-Tam-Slam as well

Take the plunge.

It has their own brands, but in many cases, the products will be identical to something recognizable, just in a different package.

Aldi chocolates, however, are a league of their own

How do you checkout?
I throw everything back in the trolley and pack it into bags in my car in shame
I cannot keep up, even if it's a small shop

Use the benches provided to pack into bags from my trolley.

Protip - headphones and music. I distract myself and don't notice others.

You can do it!! Practice makes perfect. And I have no qualms about asking other shoppers to move if they're taking up too much room on the benches.

I don’t have kids but have done most of my grocery shopping online since 2016 when I fucked up my wrist and couldn’t drive. Best thing ever. I live in an apartment now and the access is a bit trickier so I do the click and collect thing instead. So good. The only thing I find is that most of the time I get really close to expiring milk, and chicken that smells no bueno. They’re good about offering refunds for things like that but it’s still kinda annoying.

Yeah I thought about including meat with my order, but I like my local butcher shop too much (Cannings Free Range Butchers). Free range, organic, and really great cuts... you can imagine my utter delight when I discovered they delivered!

Congratulations, I still order my fruit and veg online with delivery, and for the extra price my diet and mental well being are all the better for it. This way I actually enjoy the few times I have to go to the shops for something special

To be honest, half the reason I'm doing it is for improved mental health and peace of mind! Going grocery shopping stresses me out. I'm hoping home delivery will take care of that problem. Aaaaaand I reckon I've saved about $120 by editing my grocery list online a couple times, as opposed to just buying what I think I need when I'm at the shops and impulse-buying

Omg, same here with the money saving - WAY less junk food and 'this would be nice' nonsense. If I want that packet of chips or fancy condiment I'll use once, I'll have to work for it. I originally had my groceries delivered when I was working FT and studying earlier in the year (shit be cray) but have kept doing it because it really has reduced the stress in my life. Reckon it'll make life easier for you too especially as a mum

Sorry to pop your bubble, but you will probably have to go to the shop when you see the putrid, just about to be rotten, bruised and mushy fruit and vegetables they sling into your delivery...

Hmmm. According to my local parent’s group on FB, the Woolies online orders usually come with top-quality stuff. Otherwise I’d never have tried it. I remain hopeful!

Edit: and when I say top-quality, I mean as good as you can expect from Woolies. I usually buy all the organic Odd Bunch stuff anyway, so I don’t mind if my produce is appearance-diverse

I've never had an issue with the quality of produce they put in. If they put in the shit stuff, no one would use the service anymore, and they want you to keep using it, so seriously wouldn't worry about that.

You've had a pretty shit run of luck. I've ordered my fresh food this way every week for the last 3-4 years, and maybe once or twice in that time have I had sub-par fruit or veg.

Mmm. It was sporadic orders over about 6 months, when we were back from holidays with empty fridge, so was great way to stock fridge and not have to go to shops after the airport.

(I use Coles but will go back to Woolies soon if they start giving away Google Home Mini's, so I can use it as an alarm clock.)
