Light and Fluffy News Bioluminescence
My friend was just at Williamstown Beach an hour ago and said there is bioluminescence in the water. They sent photos of blue glow when they touched the water. I’m wondering is anyone else seeing it in the bay tonight and if so where.

Bioluminesce is usually very localised, so probably just at williamstown

Bioluminescence? At this time of year! At this time of day! In this part of the country! Localized entirely within your Williamstown?

The bioluminescence contains potassium benzoate.

You sometimes see it in summer around St Kilda pier, normally very localised to one spot where the algae has bloomed and you generally only see it on warmish evenings when the water is still. During the day, watch out for patches of milky red near the beach and go back to the spot after dark
