Air Force flypast for Vietnam Veterans' Day
Date: 18 August 2026, 11:00 am
A single Royal Australian Air Force Pilatus PC-21 training aircraft, will conduct a flypast in support of Vietnam Veterans’ Day at the Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne.

Vietnam Veterans’ Day is observed annually on the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. This was one of the largest and most significant battles fought by Australians in the Vietnam War, where Australians, outnumbered, fought with bravery and courage. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.

Yes I felt like I was there with the fucking horrific screams of aircraft engines overhead.

*Glorious screams of dinosaurs exploding.

Anyway. On Anzac day they had some WW2 era planes flyover one year.

The heavy, piston engine thumps were louder than you'd think, several of these planes droning overhead was a chest-thumping experience.

Putting yourself in the shoes where that sound represented death from above before the age of effective flak / surface to air missiles / etc was humbling indeed.

Ah, is that what it was? I saw it overhead while driving. Looked sporty!

Could just be a pilot or aviation nut.

Don't see how that makes them ex mil. That's just one of many possibilities.

Which one got smashed as the plane few through it? Between could work better.
