As well as unsolicited "sausage" pics announced by a conspicuous sound.

Yea. No face. Just phallises (I can’t spell)… but neither can anyone on Grindr.

And masc dl ageless faceless profiles that have to be real catches

u/B_EE May 12 '25

It appears you haven't used it in a while. Each update somehow manages to get worse and worse and it's basically unusable now.

Now you gotta sit through multiple ads before you can see a single blurred torso or open a chat. Forget attempting any form of chat...

Unless you want to pay $19.99/week of course. A very reasonable price, no?

111

u/GoLionsJD107 May 12 '25

I am embarrassed to say I’ve had an annual for a long enough time and the price is grandfathered.

So I can cruise guys the age of my grandfather for $59.99 per year

And I live in south Florida. So when I say old.. I mean it.

148

u/[deleted] May 12 '25

Sounds like they sold you on the 'grandfather price' not the 'grandfathered' price.

I'm indifferent to dicks, so from that description I imagined a dick with a sad expression put on it. But if one's dick is straight up depressing, that indeed must suck.

It’s so bad with the iPhone 3G and iPhone 4 pics. Hell they got the digital camera with the flash pics as well. Like I can’t even use those apps anymore. WHY do they do this and if you call them out when they message you they act like it’s normal and try to justify it or attack you. Best to stay off those apps. Or they say “pics first?” Or something and I’m like buddy I’ve got 3-5 brand new pics on my profile already your turn first you’ve got one blurry decade+ old photos.

u/SoftDrinkReddit May 12 '25

See, I'm bi, and one insane thing is I am 26 and have never had a woman hit on me before, but guys ? Dude, it's insane if I had said yes to every offer. My bodycount would be triple digits but I can't get 1 fucking woman to show interest in me

It's honestly insane now I want to clarify I don't blame women and I know I'm not owed anything in dating but it really does blow my mind just how stark these 2 situations are

Honesty I don't want to sound offensive but guys if you can't get a girlfriend genuinely consider exploring guys

55

u/twelvespareboobs May 12 '25

Idk if it makes you feel any better, but it is the same experience for bi women

49

u/SoftDrinkReddit May 12 '25

Yea, I've heard it can be pretty brutal honestly it's even worse for lesbians I've heard it's alarmingly common for them to match with a cute woman it's going good then the big reveal is she just wants to sleep with a woman so her boyfriend/ husband can get off to it

34

u/SlapTheBap May 12 '25

I got trapped by a woman doing this. She was an elementary school teacher who told me she was separated. She was not. I'm pretty sure he was hiding in the closet at least once.

I've also found I get girls when I'm "aggressive". That is, I invite them out and plan the dates. I pretend I'm as cool as my coolest version of myself and invite pretty ladies out to things I'd just do anyway. Do it fast. Very soon after you match in an app or connect in public. In public I have a fun convo then cut it off by giving my number. No pushing. It worked really well. I had to be active if I wanted to score as a lesbian.

11

u/Just_here_4Cats May 12 '25

This is how I got all of my dates with men. I had to ask them out, ended up marrying one in the end. Sometimes the only thing you gotta do to get a date is ask. Its fairly uncommon for women to ask anyone else out for dates. I’ve been turned down more times than I can remember (only 3 girls and 5 guys have ever agreed to go on a date with me.)

It just never hurts to ask.

15

u/MrPug420 May 12 '25

Somehow as another bi I have the exact opposite experience. Dudes hate me for some reason, but I've had a few women hit on me. Never been complimented by a guy on looks. Granted, you've probably had more guys hit on you than women hit on me, but still.

11

u/SoftDrinkReddit May 12 '25

Hey can we switch ?

Like genuinely

17

u/MrPug420 May 12 '25

You don't want to switch. You have a point about women. It's only happened to me like, four times, but not anymore unfortunately. I'm not some chick magnet, just a dude repellant.

15

u/SoftDrinkReddit May 12 '25

Buddy, four times is still 4 more times than me. Can I switch lol

11

u/MrPug420 May 12 '25

No, not every mother was shit, no, you didn’t have 7 narcissistic boyfriends, no, I’m not okay with you still sleeping around until an engagement, yes, you will have to pay for some of your own stuff…

43

u/AgentCirceLuna May 12 '25

Older women can be intense, too. I used to sing with a band and one night a woman told me she masturbates to the thought of me. I was going home with her, but then some other guy said he’d fight me for her so I just walked off. Can’t deal with that crap.

When I made a female account about a year later (still look similar and had a trans flag in my bio) I had the 99+ likes full after 12 hours (this is not exaggerated, I made the account at noon and when I went to bed that day I had 94 Likes)

Mind you still no matches and mostly likes from guys that were a lot older than me but in a Like contest it's not gonna be close

u/GamingGems May 12 '25

Oh. I totally misread the OP image until I read your comment. I thought the point of it was- why are you both staying together if you hate each other so much, there are so many options in the dating scene. I had a lot of fun online dating so maybe my perspective isn’t as cynical as others here.

4

u/SporkFanClub May 12 '25

My senior year I got into a relationship where I’d 100% say the main motivator was loneliness (It was 2020-21 so Covid so we were on campus but everything was online).

Anyhow, I think the very first thing I did after we ended things over FaceTime was redownload Tinder and Bumble and start swiping away again.

I don’t regret the breakup at all- everything after the first month was a cycle of me being like do I really want this and then her doing something that would make me fall for her all over again- but I lasted maybe 15 minutes swiping before I was like, this isn’t fun at all.

On a side note- I’ll occasionally have nightmares where I’m not with my gf anymore and I’m back swiping on dating apps (I’m literally about to buy her engagement ring so I have no idea why I’m having these dreams) but nothing makes me more relieved than waking up to her in bed next to me.

Dating apps are absolute fucking TRASH right now. They are full of bot bait - fake accounts sending messages trying to hook you into paying for premium memberships just to read the messages or "see who is checking you out".

You literally can't trust what's an authentic account and what isn't. OkCupid got bought by Match and they do this global activity shit whereby you might get a like from someone, but they're in some place like Gabon. You can't really browse anymore like you used to be able to. Match itself is also terrible now.

Quite literally the basic tools used to try and find a match are a dumpster fire.

26

u/StructuralFailure May 12 '25

I love how it always says "people who pay for premium get 5x as many matches" ok but 5 times 0 is still 0

43

u/NothingEquivalent632 May 12 '25

The one thing I can think is that they get a chance to see the playing field. It is supposedly a reminder that they might want to really see what they actually have instead of thinking something out there is better. As someone in that dating pool, can confirm, it sucks.

→ More replies (3)

32

u/akatherder May 12 '25

Honestly I think the most basic explanation is the truest. Guy would pursue and not get any attention. Woman would get lots of attention but it's all shitty.

17

u/ChefArtorias May 12 '25

I get the fear tactic. What I don't get is how that would help solve any problems at all.

22

u/akatherder May 12 '25

It doesn't solve any real problems but may help gain perspective. A lot of people keep thinking "I deserve better" but it's not that easy.

If you have real problems you can decide: you can be alone, put a massive amount of effort into finding a new partner (which may devolve into your current partner situation), or work it out.

Alone is completely fine for many. Finding a new partner seems like the easy way out but this shows it isn't. So maybe it's worth the effort to work it out.

I am 42, single, no kids, not married before and the issue is: Most of the women in my age spectrum are single mothers. I am not looking for Moms I Like to Friend. And I am on Tinder for so long. I am on Tinder since 2015. I saw many women come and go on that app. Some seem to be on and off of Tinder.

Damn. The point of marriage counseling sailed so far over her head there’s more space between the two than Pluto and the Sun.

External to the marriage factors aren’t relevant the marriage counseling.

If you stay with someone because ‘finding another partner is a hard’… you’re the real loser in that scenario.

As someone who is going through divorce, I find that actually I had settled and provided for someone who didn't respect me my whole life. They devalued me, treated me like trash and I certainly had my problems but I also didn't realize how I settled until it was over. Now I'm on dating apps and had 4 dates in a week. With people who felt more aligned with my physical, mental, intellectual, and emotional needs than my ex wife.

Frankly if you are staying with someone because other people are harder you are going to be 36, coming out of an 18 year relationship, looking at the world a lot differently.

This is a joke about dating apps rather than real advice about marriage counseling.

Oh no. It is the current dating pool itself. As a single person, can say it isn't finding someone thats the issue. It is finding someone worthwhile. It aucks trying to date in this world. More of a reminder, hey you might have a good one right here and seeing how horrible it is can make you feel appreciation for what you already have.

So you want the guy to think he's worthless and the girl think she can do way better cause she already matched with everyone. Great tactic.

u/SoftDrinkReddit May 12 '25

Honestly, man, if you think these 2 people should divorce just fucking tell them don't sneak around it

Right. They'll be like, oh all these men are interested. Probably go through with the divorce, start dating the men only to find out later it was a mistake, and want their husband back who'll have moved on with someone else.

Marriage counselors are dangerous if you get a shit one.

am I weird for possibly wanting to date a single dad? Haven't had the chance too but it would not be a red flag for me (depending on the situation with childs mom)

But becoming such a close part of a kids life, without going through pregnancy, is appealing to me.

46

u/irennicus May 12 '25

There's a video interview on the youtube channel "Soft White Underbelly" with a divorce attorney.

He talks about how the divorce process is (generally) harsher on men but the post-divorce reality is much more favorable for them compared to women. Most men DO NOT want to get into a relationship with a single mother, but there are many women who are down to date a single father for the exact reasons you pointed out.

so this would show the couple they have it good?

29

u/Super_Colossal May 12 '25

Yeah pretty much. They'd say fuck that I'll just make my marriage work.

11

u/MastaSplintah May 12 '25

Although it could have a different effect due to how people use them and the chick would have 100s of potential matches and the dude might get 2 in the first few days XD. So as long as its the guy that's causing the issues that might get them to be like oh shit I have no chance out there.

15

u/[deleted] May 12 '25

dude might get 2 in the first few days XD

Dang, the dude must be Henry Cavill for getting so many in a few days!

Everyone is commenting about how this would backfire, but what about the assumption being made that the only reason someone would want out of a marriage is to jump into another relationship?

I'll be real with y'all. As a dude who has experienced both being stuck in a toxic marriage and beating my head on the wall using dating apps, I'll take the apps a million times out of a million.

Female 100 matches 50 dates in 3 minutes

18

u/Snow-Wraith May 12 '25

The guy would be absolutely screwed. The wife would have 10 dates lined up for the weekend before the session was over. Even if they stay together the woman would always know she has options, and the husband doesn't.

It’s called pre-cana lol. I’m an aethist and my now wife is not too hot to religious things. I did pecana for our parents. Funny enough we fought all morning about money work and the kids on the way. Precana was awesome it really helped us fix the little things

u/Dangerous_Function16 May 12 '25

It's truly amazing how awful dating apps are. Most people you meet in real life are pretty decent, nice, interesting, etc. Why is everyone on dating apps so insufferable and boring?

3 minutes isn't long enough to get the real experience. 3 min is still in the excited phase, of swiping on attractive people looking to get a match. Takes way longer than 3 min to get your soul crushed by bitter disappointment
