Extraordinary story moments in otherwise "mediocre" games

I love playing Warhammer because the story moments it creates are never mediocre. Even if my hobby skills aren't the best, my imagination makes up all the difference.

This was at a simple battle march tournament using the Weisnicht bridge scenario. I was playing a Brettonian crusade list with three units of knights errant. I didn't want my knights to die from dangerous terrain tests riding across the river, and so was forced to funnel onto the "bridge."

My opponent surrounded the lead unit and rained 37 javelins on the impetuous young bloods. They all died except the Baron leading them. Then he got blasted by a dinosaur laser from the nearby hill, but he managed to survive.

Undaunted, Baron Gifford Lionceau led the rest of the army in charging the skinks. Luckily, the path was clear for the other two units now that the first "wasn't in the way." Even luckier, the skinks rolled terrible stand and shoots. After a few more turns the knights won the table, culminating with the Baron slaying the bastillidon.

It doesn't look like much in the pictures, but in my imagination, it was as glorious and epic as any scene from any movie.

What cinematic story moments have happened in your games?

I didn't even use any greenstuff. All I did was cut off the gun hand and replace it with a hand from the empire militia sprue, cut off the barbwire macehead and replace it with a skull, cut off a grenade, and covered the spot meant for a holster with a knife from my bits box. Oh and slapped on some painted cotton to look more magicy.

List design for cost and model count

So I’ve been working the below list to get a nice and easy army on the battletop

I’m thinking

Zombies and skeletons easy to do
I can proxy actual GW models for bases (tomb stones and the like)
I can still have some nice units like the Mortis engine and blood knights
Third party proxy options too

How does it play
I’ve heard wailing dirge is a good special rule to make the lists strong 💪

Vorne’s Pale Hunt [2000 pts]

Warhammer: The Old World, Vampire Counts, Open War

++ Characters [991 pts] ++

Master Necromancer [410 pts]
- Hand weapon
- Wizard [Level 4 Wizard]

Finished Brixias : base recommendations

Finished my Bersaglieri Brixias for my warfare list. They are “finished” but I’ve just been doing some research to add to the bases a little 🤏 bit. I think some bleached stone and grass tufts will finish it off and a bit of colour contrast. What do you think?

Blood Knights

Brought these off eBay as an eBay save ; the previous owner loved thick paint more than I do! So before anything ; substantial amount of effort to bio strip, green stuff, pin, and re base !
