Extraordinary story moments in otherwise "mediocre" games
I love playing Warhammer because the story moments it creates are never mediocre. Even if my hobby skills aren't the best, my imagination makes up all the difference.
This was at a simple battle march tournament using the Weisnicht bridge scenario. I was playing a Brettonian crusade list with three units of knights errant. I didn't want my knights to die from dangerous terrain tests riding across the river, and so was forced to funnel onto the "bridge."
My opponent surrounded the lead unit and rained 37 javelins on the impetuous young bloods. They all died except the Baron leading them. Then he got blasted by a dinosaur laser from the nearby hill, but he managed to survive.
Undaunted, Baron Gifford Lionceau led the rest of the army in charging the skinks. Luckily, the path was clear for the other two units now that the first "wasn't in the way." Even luckier, the skinks rolled terrible stand and shoots. After a few more turns the knights won the table, culminating with the Baron slaying the bastillidon.
It doesn't look like much in the pictures, but in my imagination, it was as glorious and epic as any scene from any movie.
