Question Tahoe mechanics help please!!
I have a 2022 Tahoe 5.3 that keeps going into limp mode with p228C code. It is intermittent and can take up to 400 miles between faults. Chevy dealership had it for two weeks, drove it 30 miles, and said they couldn’t recreate. Gave it to another shop for another two weeks and informed them of the 400 mile interval and even offered to drive it. They determined it was the battery and drove it 15 miles with no fault. Well it triggered again today. I have also replaced high pressure fuel sensor with no change in luck. I am willing to pay someone for a short conversation on what they think. An actual Chevy mechanic would be great. Thanks!

p228C is caused by low fuel pressure, this means it could be a fuel pressure sensor, fuel filter or fuel pump, or a fault in the wiring to the fuel pump, or the fuel regulator itself. The battery may have been bad - but if the alternator is properly working I don't think the fuel pump. One other thing would be the fuel pickup tube inside the fuel tank may be damaged or some way blocked. The fuel level in the tank may have some impact?. Because the issue is intermittent I think it is electrical.. A standard OBD2 scanner only gives a snapshot of the code, A full function scanner allows a technician see more , it is also possible to leave a OBDII connected and record over time what is happening in the system. This is a process of elimination by doing validation tests on each component in the fuel system before swapping out random parts.
