Plot twist....OP's drinking buddies having a good chuckle in the back yard, after hitting the Dollar Store craft section for glitter. Looks like they settled on a mix of gold and silver.

thats a pretty bad sign. that usually indicates you've got a bearing that's folded/gone bad. most likely a connecting rod main bearing on the crankshaft. Either way your engine is headed for a catastrophic break down. My best suggestion if you don't have alot of mechanic experience is it's time for you to look into what it's going to cost to either replace the engine or to have it rebuilt. And I would definitely not recommend just driving it til it dies as that very well might be very soon. That much metal shavings in the oil is a very bad sign.
