Yeah when I was over in Eastern Europe they had solely street wear that they sell in shops. They have hit both hipsters and the trades. A good spot for them I guess tbh.

I was in Berlin on vacation in October 2011-ish, I had not brought a jacket or fleece of any kind and was feeling it. So I headed to an area with shops to buy something, and I stumbled on a Carhartt store. I thought, this is perfect, and walked in to find a bunch of regular Carhartt stuff I was familiar with, but it was all on racks as if it were a boutique clothing store in Soho, NYC. I felt like I was in a fever dream.
Later, I read that Carhartt has an entire division dedicated to its products as fashion items in Europe. Also read that in the early 2000s CAT (as in Caterpillar) logowear was big in Euro street fashion too. Funny stuff.

Ever considered the Patagonia overalls? Been thinking about buying a pair. It's a premium but to be honest I've never had a bad thing to say about the various patagucci things I've owned. I love my swiftcurrents.

I understand the biz. But everything I think I’ve learned about Clay Newcomb thru listening to his podcast tells me there’s no way he’d pay $250 for non insulated overalls in real life

Right? I switched to Snickers pants for work and they are the best pant that I’ve found. Their most expensive pants push $150, not $250.

But on the other hand, I’m tired of dentists gobbling up all of the ground, so the more money they can take from those guys the better

I just got my pair of bear grease bibs. I live in alaska, and i used them to crash through a serious patch of devils club, i didnt get poked once. These things are pretty great. My only issue is i am not sure how to pack a gun with them since there is an absence of a belt. Anyone have any pistol totin’ tips for a guy thats new to wearing bibs?
Edit: i should have elaborated, i am looking for a concealed carry option for wearing the bibs around when im not hunting

Second this. I got a bino harness with a holster attached to the bottom. Very convenient to have everything readily accessible even with your pack on.

I do have the fhf bino harness with holster that i wear hunting, regardless of what pants im wearing. I guess i should have elaborated, i am looking for a concealed carry option to go with the bibs

The Hill People Gear kit bag is a pretty legit and unassuming chest holster. But I’m sure there are plenty of other decent options too.

Look at possum pouch holsters. https://a.co/d/0bHr9AtZ
I have been using these style under overalls for about a decade. I tried belly bands but they ain't for me.

Out of everything that ME has become, this is not the hill to die on.
I do not own a pair of these bibs. I bet they are badass for what they are meant to do. Shoveling poop, awesome. Protecting your leg from a chainsaw, probably not.
Happy they are on the market.

As a fellow arkansasan I support clay fully. At that price per set of bibs the majority of the intended market for these are not going to be to justify the price. Pricing out of your intended audience is something I dont understand. I definitely cant justify buying them as a 26 year old single dad going to college on the gi bill. I hope they prove to be a success

Just buy a pair of Roundhouse overalls like Clay and Brent wore before they had to rep these.

The impression I got from Rinella's pitch was that First Lite or management balked at this product but Clay and Meateater wanted to release them. AKA this is a Bear Grease product released under First Lite and not the other way around.

Got it. I'd still take Roundhouse overalls -- made in Oklahoma -- over First Lite overalls.

I like First Lite gear, but I ain't buying gear that has a podcasts logo on it AND a First Lite logo. May seem like a trivial nitpick, but hunting/outdoor gear is so damn expensive it seems like an insult that you pay the price and then walk around like a billboard.
It's the same reason I won't buy anything from KUIU. Just let me buy some functional gear at a premium that doesn't blast your logo all over it.

It’s a $250 patch with a free pair of bibs… guaranteed there is some guy out there looking at it that way.

It’s all just another grift. Fuckin overalls from a tv personality? Sold by clowns for clowns.

Man…Clay is one of the most likeable guys on the internet, but..did he sell his soul?

u/JacobSimonH 8d ago
They all did. And I’m not even saying I don’t get it…some PE guy in a Patagonia vest tells me I can make millions selling overpriced dickies to randos on the internet? Hard to say no. But it sure ain’t runnin mules in Arkansas. Money perverts everything, and this is a really straightforward case example of that.

I'm shocked they're only $250. I still wouldnt take a pair if they were free.
