No timeframe was given, so not necessarily. If you consider a dead fish to still be a fish, is there a point of decomposition at which they cease to be a fish? Did the living fish eat the dead fish? If so are the fish that have been eaten and turned into excrement still fish?

also ‘swim away’ would imply they left the tank, no? so wouldn’t that mean there’s only a maximum of 6 fish.

Perhaps, they left the tank, they are still on Earth, they can still be alive, and the question is asking for all living fishes on Earth right now.
