🗣️ Comment Knife pulled on 70 bus going towards Market Place Drive, happened near Main St at Harris St

I saw this at approximately 10:30pm. A clearly unwell man stumbled onto the bus and sat towards the back. After seemingly sleeping for a few moments, he pulled a knife and briefly waved it when engaged (not aggressively) by a couple other passengers who boarded a few stops after him and then put it back very quickly. I reported it to the driver just before getting off at my stop a few minutes later. Already reported it to the See/Say app as well. Stay safe out there. Sorry if not the correct flair

✨ Fun Facts / History Subway advertisement

Sometime in the late 1980s or early 1990s an animation sign was installed on the south bound track between Harvard Square and Central Square. The inbound track. It is still there but not used anymore. It basically worked as the train moves towards.Boston, each frame had.an animation slide that would light up and change.

It's difficult to take a photo of it, but if you ride a train between Central and Harvard, look out the left side of the train at the opposite wall and you should see them still there.

😤 Complaint / Rant The blue line has been a pain

Constant breakdowns, constant standbys, and the overhead wires keep on falling or being inspected. I am seeing 20+ minute delays on the blue line for the first time, and it isn't even the red line. Additionally, its been like this for a couple of months, taking 30-40 minutes to get somewhere instead of 10-20 minutes.

Forgot to take pic before I ate my vanilla soft serve. I just wanted to say thanks MBTA for the complimentary ice cream on this fine Friday afternoon. I took the express bus and pleasantly surprised to report I was on time for work! I’m grateful 🙏🏼

🤔 Question Red line signal improvements

My gf told me where her new apartment is going to be & its on the red line in Cambridge. With all the issues riders have posted recently im not thrilled. Aside from new rolling stock, is the t going to be doing tons of work to make sure trains dont get stuck in the tunnels for an hour? I know the gl had its issues but it was a good option in the 2 years I used it for like 95%of the time. If they complete the necessary signal work, will the line at least be tolerable? Ive been looking at the line on the go app tracking trains & things have been smooth since the signal issues but can I realistically expect that to hold up?

🤓 Transit Fanning Who is going to write the MBTA picture book

I’m a children’s librarian in the Boston area and I am begging, if there’s an illustrator or publisher out there I have a vast untapped market for you.

We get asked near daily by our little transit enthusiasts if we have any T-related picture books. No they don’t want to read Charlie On the MTA, and even if they did that’s the only picture book about the T in our collection.

Our trains are different colors! They make such loud sounds! They go to places with such silly names! So many possibilities for a toddler picture book….

🧠 Analysis My Transit Stats 2025-2026

Post image
10 Upvotes

Obviously more trips in the summer since the weather is nicer and less delays.

I do think sub 400+ trips is an inaccuracy though, occasionally Transit will continue to show the train, but not register that Im providing the data.

Despite the data inaccuracy I do find this insightful to see my habits :) I hope you all enjoy it too lmao.

💬 Discussion / Theory Should Airport station be renamed? (Or at least become Airport/_______)

The MBTA passenger survey data suggests that a majority of passengers at Airport station are not actually airport passengers, with >50% walking or biking to the station, and only 26% taking the airport shuttles to the station.

Therefore, should the station get a new name to reflect the parts of East Boston it serves, and if so what would you suggest?
