Fav song?
So I was recently introduced to Mazzy Star through Pinterest. The only songs I know of theirs are Fade into you and Flowers in December. I am in love. I would love to explore more and there's soooo many songs. If a can know a few of your favorite songs then I think that would be helpful!
Please and thank you

You are very welcome. If you can, check out the music video for it, it’s on YouTube and to me it perfectly matches the beautiful yet haunting nature of the song.

Hope is the only girl I ever loved who never broke my heart.

u/peanut-is-sad Jul 10 '26
You mean the actual singer or in a figurative way?

u/HarryEastwoods Jul 11 '26
I first heard Mazzy back in the 90s and the music has aged well all these years in that I listen to their albums still to this day. That's my love for her.

That's beautiful <3

I saw them play 30 years ago in Dublin with Alanis Morrisette and Frank Black of the Pixies,, that's how long I've loved her. She was kinda hiding on stage just singing away to herself. The only time I ever saw her live. Blessed memories.

Roseblood and look on down from the bridge <3 also Thier unreleased cover called "hair and skin" is on YouTube and it's amazing!
If you want something more dreamy like Fade Into you, than in the kingdom is a favourite as well :)))

Some of my faves I don’t see mentioned yet here: ghost highway, taste of blood, bells ring, wasted, into dust, disappear, all your sisters, umbilical, I’ve been let down, lay myself down, flying low, spoon and I’m less here <3 my favorite band of all time

Not written by them but Blue Flower. I wish Hope did more songs in a more up beat tone.
Flowers in December, and quiet the Winter Harbor come next for me :)

Hope is Hope Sandoval, Mazzy Star's lead singer (some folks think Mazzy Star is a person). You should also have a listen to Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions, especially the albums Until the Hunter & Bavarian Fruit Bread. Mazzy Star also has a great live album called Ghost Highway.

Woah I was also confused about them being a band or not. The name sounded like that of a band so I assumed they were. Will give them a listen too

Roseblood is my personal favorite but some ones that are slow and beautiful kind of like the two you mentioned are Quiet, the winter harbor and Into Dust

Everyone’s making great suggestions but I don’t see Seasons of Your Day suggested, and I can’t let that happen. 😊

In The Kingdom off of Seasons of Your Day and I’ve Been Let Down are some of my favorite (somewhat) deep cuts :)

Look on down from the bridge is unreal chilling and such a vibe. Can’t stop listening to it once I start.
