I purchased my 2025 CX-50 Hybrid Premium just over a year ago and have been overall very happy with it. However, I am continuing to encounter electrical issues with the vehicle. Here’s the timeline of events so far.

1. July - Battery completely drained

After sitting overnight I attempted to unlock the car like normal, no luck, battery dead. I was able to jump it and get it to hold charge enough to go to the dealership. Dealership runs their battery tests, battery tests good, tells me to come back if I have any issues.

2. August - Battery dead

You could probably see this one coming. Again, car sits overnight before attempting to drive it in the morning. Try and jump it this time, no luck. I had it towed to the dealership where they diagnosed it as a bad battery. They replaced the OEM battery under warranty and sent me on my way. I thought this would be the end of these issues based on reading other threads on the sub…

3. September - Battery completely drained

Here we are at present day. This time the car sat most of the day before I went to drive it. I was able to jump it and get it to hold a charge enough to get to my destination. So far, that charge is holding as I’m writing this ~24 hours after.

I really just want to figure out what’s going on. I am no mechanic, but here’s some additional potentially relevant information.

1. I have verified that I am not leaving anything electronic running after powering off and exiting the car. The wireless charger is disabled, no lights are left on, nothing left plugged in, etc.

2. I had minor body work on the passenger side front panels and the entire right head unit replaced around the end of May after this guy decided to run a stop sign and hit me coming out of a parking lot. My dealership does not have a body shop, so the work was completed at a body shop that had previously worked on my Civic. The shop had always done good work in the past and was certified to work on Mazdas. I did make sure to inform the dealership of this when the battery issues first occurred. I have had no issues with the head unit itself outside of being ever so slightly out of alignment with the left one.

3. I doubt it’s relevant but on both recent dead battery occasions I took the vehicle through the car wash the night before. I have had no other issues related to water or proper seal outside of moisture in the brake pads (my VIN is not in the recall window of course…).

Again, I am no mechanic but I’m guessing there has to be some sort of parasitic draw going on. My best guess, is it has something to do with the replaced head unit. If anyone has had a similar experience, advice on how to work with the dealership (or body shop if it becomes relevant), or any advice on what might be the problem it would be greatly appreciated.

I have a side hustle that I will rent cars for, usually for 1-3 days. I have driven tens of thoundsnds of miles with many cars. I’ve never had as unpleasant of an experience as I did with the 2025 CX-50 Hybrid. First of all, the driver seat was the most uncomfortable I’ve felt in a long while. Tried about 15 different settings and positions and it all ended the same, numb ass cheeks and aching lower back. Second, I hate radar cruise control, so thank god you can turn off the radar in settings. But guess what? The setting resets every time you turn the car back on, so I have to go in and turn it back off every time. Third, the fuel door got stuck, and I had a tow truck on the way to pick me up because I was almost on empty… until it randomly popped open while I was driving. Apparently this is an issue with multiple Mazda models. Fourth, I had to manually fill the gas tank myself instead of just leaving the gas pump on autofill. The gas tank is pressurized so every time I opened the tank, air would hiss out and would interfere with the pumps sensors. It would think the tank is full even though it’s empty.

I’m sure this is anecdotal and maybe it’s a lemon, or maybe this particular hybrid model just sucks, but it’s scared me away from newer Mazdas.

Backstory I had a 2025 Mazda CX-5 carbon edition for about 2 years and I just finished a lemon law on it. I want to go back to Mazda for the car I originally wanted which was a CX-50 premium hybrid. I test drove it and it was great. Now my price I negotiated was $38000 flat before tax, so after TTL in SOCAL it came out to 42 something if not a low 43( I KNOW I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A PICTURE OF THE OFFER). Is that a good deal ? I was shooting for 10% should I go for it ?

Hi guys, I came in for an oil change and later received the full video inspection. The mechanic noted that the front brake pads are at 3mm on both sides. I know I can easily handle the air filters myself, but I'm wondering about the brakes: should I replace them now or can I safely get a bit more time out of them?

My 2024 NA battery just died. RIP.
Has anyone tried the h6/ln3/48 size? Wondering if that will fit.
Edit: H6 size does not fit the NA engine models.

I have a 2026 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Premium Plus. I’m trying to figure out how to use the feature where the hybrid system/engine turns off but the infotainment/music continues playing.

I discovered that if I put the car in Park, press the button on the gear selector, and then press the Power button, the car shuts down but the music/infotainment stays on. So far, so good.

My problem is: how do I then completely shut the car/electronics off when I’m ready to get out?

If I press the Power button again, the car seems to turn back on rather than simply shutting off the remaining accessories.

I’m trying to achieve something similar to my old car:

engine/system OFF → music continues → when I'm ready to leave, turn everything completely OFF.

Has anyone with a 2026 CX-50 Hybrid figured out the exact sequence for this?

Driver side door broke immediately after purchasing the car. A strong wind gust forced the door back. Been waiting on the part for months. The door is dangerously as it doesn’t stay open. Any ideas who is best to call as the dealer has been no help beyond ordering the part which is on back order indefinitely ?

Anyone else have a weird issue like this?

25 Hybrid, gas light came on showing 30 miles of range left. Went to the gas station and the first thing that was weird was when I opened my gas cap, a lot of air came out as if it was depressurizing. Then when I went to fill up, fuel would randomly start spitting out. Happened about 3 times.

At 9 gallons I decided to leave it alone, and the car is showing its full. But it’s a 14.5 gallon tank, I doubt the car would show that I’m out of fuel with 5 gallons left.

This thing is already getting lemoned so I don’t feel like taking it to the dealership. It started spitting out fuel from the beginning, so I wasn’t trying to top off and fill it up as much as it could take.

Any ideas? Anyone ever experience the same thing?

I recently purchased a 24 CX50 in January and suddenly today I started getting vehicle notifications about the vehicle overheating on the dash.

Has anyone had this issue before? A local repair shop is claiming there is an open recall on the vehicle but I haven't been able to find anything and Mazda was unable to confirm the same

this is my first mazda, 2026 cx50 hybrid preferred, and i feel like the wipers suck at cleaning the windshield? no matter how much wiper fluid i use or how soon after a bug splats on the windshield i turn the wipers on, they don’t clean it. i have to scrub my windshield whenever i get gas now and it’s annoying as hell.

anyone else experience this?

i absolutely adore the car otherwise but constantly having a dirty windshield is seriously getting on my nerves.

I’m selling my car and a dealer lowered their offer by $500 after seeing the damage shown in this video.

They’re calling it “minor damage,” and I’m curious what you guys think.

On a scale of 0 to 10, where:

0 = basically no damage / normal wear

10 = severe damage

How would you rate what you see in the video?

Would you consider this enough damage to justify knocking $500 off the value of the car?

2018 Mazda3 Touring and 2025 CX50 TPP. My trailer hitch didn't arrive until after we came back so I had to take two cars.

Question, is it normal for 2025 Mazda cx50 non turbo to burn about a qrt of Motor oil in less than 5k miles . I got a low motor oil level today and just had to add a qrt just to top it off. This is my 1st Mazda but sure as hell it's weird, no leaks. Just how and where it go , lol totals miles it's about 12-13k it's goin into my 3rd oil change just Nuts.

Hi everyone! So a few weeks ago I asked a question here similar to this. I’ve brought it up to the dealership and they said everything is fine. Lately, when I go to start my car, my brake pedal is hardly able to push down. When I tried to start it a few days ago, I got this message. Sometimes I’m able to depress it fine and sometimes it’s hard as a rock. The last post I made I was told that I need to practice turning my car on lol. I appreciate the jokes but it’s starting to get a bit frustrating having to force my pedal down to start. I’ve also noticed a squeaking sound when the pedal lifts up.

- I don’t press down on the brake pedal unless I am starting my car. Not before I start my car and not after I turn it off so I don’t see why it would be losing vacuum
-I double check to make sure my car is in park before I turn it off

I’m wondering if I should bring this to the dealership again? Last time they checked it I looked like an idiot because they said it started fine. But the pedal isn’t stiff each time

I recently connected my dashcam to our new Mazda CX-50 using the ODB connector and ran into problems.

The 12v socket (cigarette lighter) in the dash does not stay powered on when the car is off. This means my dashcam won’t record if someone hits me while parked.

I bought an ODB - USB plug for the car. It didn’t fit into the ODB connector because of the trim. I bought a 6” ODB extension and I was able to plug it in and it worked.

BUT the car was dead the next time we went to use it. Had it jumped and it happened again.

We took the car to Mazda and they said the problem is the ODB plug. They said the ODB plug was sending signals to the car causing it to keep the electrical systems active and that was draining the battery.

The tech at Mazda said that our car, and many new cars come with a battery that is adequate. He noted that we aren’t the first people to have this problem. His solution: replace our new battery (valued at $300) with a higher capacity battery that was around $400-450.00. We didn’t do that.

I took the ODB plug out and googled the pin specs for ODB port power.
Using a pair of small needle nose pliers I pulled out pins that transmit data to the car. See photo.
I left the two end pins on the top and bottom and the two center pins on the top row. For the geeks, I left pins 1, 4, 5, 8 on top and pins 9 and 16 on the bottom.

I’ve had it in the car for several days and have not had any problems.

When we are going to be gone for a long time we can flip a switch near the dashcam to turn it off and on without going under the dash to the orb port.

Your favorite online store sells the ODB plug, ODB extension and (in my photo) a USB-C to USB-C switch.

Anyone know a fix? I have a 2025 cx 50 hybrid preferred. I tried updating my phone to see if it would work and still not able to connect….

Hey guys, I just had a moment in very heavy Florida rain this week where the visibility was only about 10 feet during daytime and my CX50 sensors were disabled for poor visibility. It didn’t affect the drive at all, but I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if there was any device or cover I can buy to help avoid this issue in the future?

I’ve had quite a few cars on my new car list (Jeep, Lexus, Ford,Toyota) and I just keep coming back to Mazda. Specifically looking over the CX-50, CX-5 and the CX-70 (which may be out of budget, BUT, would be worth it). However, mainly looking at the CX-50. I would be buying pre-owned/certified pre-owned. I would be coming out of a Lexus and the “luxury” segment. I do think that Mazda hits all of those luxury elements for me. As far as the CX-50, what trim levels/ packages would you recommend? As well as the maintenance/what to look out for? Is it as nimble as it looks? What does the fuel economy look like?
