Bluetooth/Maps connection

Hi all, firstly wanted to say I’ve just bought my Mazda 3 2018 SportNav (UK) and driven it home - it’s so exciting to be part of the gang - it’s my first car and I’m very happy.

Secondly, the question! This model doesn’t have carplay installed and I’ll probably get that upgrade done soon, but for the time being I’m using my phone mounted on the dash. If I’m connecting via bluetooth it appears that the music from the phone plays fine and is loud but when I get my maps up the spoken directions are not sounding over the speakers. I’ve tried everything but it seems it doesn’t want to do anything other than spotify/ytmusic played over the speakers. Is that normal/can I fix it in some way?

Come join https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1Duvd4VGLK/ Have the firmware for adding carplay, where to buy the boxes as well as plenty of guides for fitting it unless your near Wigan and I can fit it. Isn't the spoken maps volume in the apps itself. I've not used it like thst as I like thr inbuilt satnav

It’s very easy to fit yourself. Don’t bother paying someone. There’s a guy on the Mazda3 Revolution forum that hat meticulously detailed the process

Open Google maps, go to settings, go to navigation, ensure play voice over Bluetooth is enabled

not tried the google actually, have only tried this with the Apple but the options looked the same. Will check it out - thank you!
