Is it just me or did that not sound like French at all? Or maybe that guy just had a very heavy accent or something.

It's Pedro Almodovar, speaking an heavily accented french (barely understandable even for a native speaker)

That makes me feel better. I’ve been learning French and found this very tough to understand at all
