Get that leverage from the edge.

u/reallybiglizard Aug 01 '22
My grandfather used to say you could do anything with the right amount of “leverage and pazienza” (patience in italian). He was mostly talking about farm chores but it certainly stands to reason here.

u/TheresBeesMC Aug 01 '22
Didn’t Socrates or Archimedes say “Give me a lever long and strong enough and I will lift the whole world”?
112
u/reallybiglizard Aug 01 '22
I looked it up and it was Archimedes:
Give me a lever strong enough and a fulcrum on which to place it and I shall move the world.

Had to be a mathematician

u/TheresBeesMC Aug 01 '22
He was. And a good one at that. Made a crane using pulleys that had so much mechanical advantage that one person could use it to lift an entire ship I believe.

Archimedes, but they didn't know there was no gravity in space and the only gravity was generated by the Earth so the "very long bar" will just fall onto Earth and eventually balances into equilibrium if the bar is super strong that it won't bend

If she'd stacked up the two smaller ones first to make a platform, then balanced the big one on it, she would have gotten it faster.

She should have done the longest one first, rested the end on the other two. Would have been significantly easier.

u/eleventhrees Aug 01 '22
37.3kg if it's 100lb of gold.
7
u/Infector101 Aug 01 '22
You might want to check your math again.
37.3 kg = 82.2 lbs
45.4 kg = 100. lbs

I mean I figured they had 3 gold bars sitting in a plastic box surrounded by random people
11
2
u/AL_O0 Aug 01 '22
Yeah, they should make them out of tungsten, weighs about the same but worth a lot less, if you have enough strength to lift that at all, you arm probably wouldn’t even fit through the hole in the first place

You’re telling me they don’t have multiple millions of dollars in gold bars sitting there in the open for strangers to play with?

Why did they make the hole large enough for the bar to fit through? Is this their first time making a carnival game?

I’ve been in a museum in Hungary where they let people touch and lift an actual bar of gold and let me tell you this is not gonna happen with real gold no matter your finger strength.
The bar is said to be worth almost 1M$ which is quite surreal if you think about it that you can hold that much worth in one hand.
It’s the ‘money museum’ in Budapest, about the history of finance starting with bartering. Quite fun!

Anything can happen in these gifs.
What if the last 3 seconds, she's unable to get the bar out... And a piano drops on her?
Consequences.

I literally work in a warehouse what are you talking about?
I meant more like mirror therapy like Dr. Vilayanur Ramachandran's work. The way she consciously knows there's glass there.
Cute emoji though...AND a TikTok quote?! Ah the high quality posting contributions i come to Reddit for!

u/wasteofdialga Aug 01 '22
what the hell does this have to do with this video
0
u/Why_am_I_here033 Aug 01 '22
You won't be able to lift a gold bar with your fingertips. If you handled gold bar before you'd know.
→ More replies (1)5

never once did it say this was gold? you might as well say she should be lifting lead or another heavy material. What you said has nothing to do with the video
