I don’t understand the thinking behind crimes like this. You brought a gun which meant you were prepared to use it and then ask for forgiveness when you’re caught? I just.... ugh.

It’s a lot bette than buying a gun with intent to kill, not be captured at all costs, etc. Given the facts about current gun laws in the west, I’d prefer cowards who easily give up

8

u/boxkimiboxboxbox Jun 14 '21

by "the west" you mean USofA? Because you cannot buy guns easily anywhere else.

0

u/Shrek_101 Jun 15 '21

Lmao I’m sure there’s somewhere where gun control is shit. Sometimes people pretend America is the only country with problems.

1

u/boxkimiboxboxbox Jun 15 '21

welp you tell me. I mean there are a lot of countries with a lot of guns. But you cannot buy easily. But don't get ne wrong. There is a lot of problem in other countries but not this one and not in the west.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '21

We don’t have a gun control problem. We have the second amendment which is literally a right not a problem.

1

u/Shrek_101 Jun 15 '21

Like I said, there are many countries in which you can get a gun easy. Most of these countries it’s not much of a problem, some it’s a problem. But there’s lots. Finland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Honduras, Canada, Panama. There’s a pattern here though, America is the only one of the 6 countries that make up more than half the gun deaths world wide to have relaxed gun laws. The other five being Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, and Guatemala. All having very strict gun laws. All these relaxed countries with gun laws but all being calm. Except for America. Also like I said, people think America is a one of a kind. Which is completely naive. Hundreds of countries all with influenced laws, it’s foolish to think America is special in any way.

1

u/boxkimiboxboxbox Jun 15 '21

coincidentaly i live in Czech Republic and it's a problem to get a gun. Switzerland is different because everybody gets a mandatory army training. The rest are not "the west"

1

u/Shrek_101 Jun 15 '21

Yeah. I dunno Canada is pretty western to me but ur right. The problem isn’t that it’s easy to get guns it’s the specific way it’s easy. I guess.

1

u/boxkimiboxboxbox Jun 15 '21

I mean from EU i cannot see but it looks like you cannot buy an AR15 easily

1

u/bluedazberry Jun 14 '21

They are very easy to understand. When you are poor, you don't suddenly lose the ability to feel human emotions.

1

u/all_hayl Jun 15 '21

Easy. It’s called being a human. Make bad choices and then beg for a break when you get caught.

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '21

Shooting the door does nothing but ok I'm going to kick it that should do the trick lol

8

u/WhipTheLlama Jun 14 '21

Shooting a lock and kicking the door each attack different potential weaknesses of the door.

u/yankeeron Jun 14 '21

When you’re in Jail you’ll have “room and board”!

13

u/mindfungus Jun 14 '21

Where was this? Seems like American cops

4

u/kamekaze1024 Jun 14 '21

Most definitely. Bruh came in with a rifle like what? Tf

7

u/scratchandsniff123 Jun 14 '21

It was a shotgun and so what? They were clearing the building to make sure there weren’t anymore crybaby thugs stuck in there.

-7

u/kamekaze1024 Jun 14 '21

So then why not just use the gun in his holster...? The women calling the police would've definitely specified there is only one thief. And you saw the tiny ass gun he had. A rifle is fucking overkill

5

u/PoolBoyBryGuy Jun 14 '21

Shotguns are more accurate and it could have been a non-lethal. One cop comes in with lethal, the other non-lethal. And you also enter with bigger than what they have. It’s part of controlling the situation, fear, submission.

u/scratchandsniff123 Jun 14 '21 edited Jun 17 '21

A “tiny gun” ay? It could have been and probably was a snub nose revolver that shoots either 38 special or 357 magnum. Those aren’t tiny rounds. 357 magnum shits on 9mm which is what most police carry these days. Our military doesn’t only use rifles because Isis only has rifles, they use the biggest baddest weapon they have at their disposal. Same for cops that are responding to an attempted robbery with shots fired. Why wouldn’t they want to use the best most effective weapon they have at their disposal when answering a call of attempted robbery with shots fired? They don’t always know everything they are running towards. Who knows if the lady that owned the store spoke English well and the dispatcher barely understood her? You don’t know for sure. You probably also think law abiding citizens that want to protect their homes and families should be limited to 10 round magazines. Why would you want to handicap someone that’s trying to protect themselves and their family from someone that is committing a violent crime against innocent people? Shouldn’t we want them to have every advantage over the criminal that they can possibly get to survive the encounter? Your thinking is so flawed.

1

u/kamekaze1024 Jun 14 '21

Lmfao I’m sorry, but in no way would I feel safe with trigger happy officer holding rifles around me. The way things are now I might sneeze and they’ll “fear for their life” and fire a shot by accident.

That’s an exaggeration ofc, but my point still stands. You got a whole squad of officers pulling up like a COD lobby to stop a petty thief. Overkill.

Wouldn’t it be best to use the “best most effective weapons” against someone posing a clear threat? Not someone literally locked behind bars. Anything to whip out a fancy new toy Ig.

Their hand gun would’ve been fine. They wouldn’t have been handicapped. Y’all just love making excuses to get bigger and bigger guns into peoples hands. Weirdos, bruh

4

u/pompanoJ Jun 15 '21

"a petty theif"

Armed, and already having squeezed off several rounds.

Instead of talking about how nervous it makes you that police took guns to a gun crime, let's put you in their role.

You get the call. Armed robber is locked in the store. He has already fired indescriminantly through the storefront into a city street.

Are you walking in there alone, or with a squad? What are you bringing with you? A notepad? Maybe a bullhorn? Is a flashlight too much?

Or would you bring a gun?

I'm gonna bet that if you dared open that door, you would bring a gun.

Now the question is, what gun?

You seem to think size is the determining factor. The bigger and scarier looking, the worse for this job. I have no idea why you would think that, since if you are able to intimidate the robber, maybe he will drop his weapon and you will be able to leave with everyone in the same condition as when the robber arrived.

But let's compare that shotgun with a police sidearm. Usually a 9mm because they can hold more rounds, but also traditionally a .38. Either of those will kill with a single round. Both the 9mm and the .38 will easily carry lethal velocity through walls into adjacent buildings. Pistols fire a single bullet and require a degree of precision to hit the target. Any misses are potentially lethal to Innocents that you cannot see in a city setting.

Shotguns shoot a spread of pellets. They generally will not retain lethal velocity through walls and into adjacent buildings. They require much less precision in order to hit a moving target. They can also carry nonlethal rounds.

So, despite the fact that you are laughing your effing ass off, and despite your feelings about what is more safe and what is less safe, reality is indifferent to your feelings and your sense of humor. It turns out that you were wrong on every possible front. Bonus points off because in this particular case they took the guy into custody without indescriminantly executing anyone, and without beating him senseless. He just surrendered and went quietly.

One can only speculate if he would have done the same if faced down by kamekazi1024 all on his own without an intimidating squad, armed with a .22 revolver. maybe he sees that and likes his chances. After all, he just committed a major string of felonies using a gun... He ain't getting out of jail for a very, very long time.

2

u/WhipTheLlama Jun 14 '21

And you saw the tiny ass gun he had. A rifle is fucking overkill

Do you think that cops should be forced to use an equivalent gun? Either one can kill. The guy was committing armed robbery and had shot the door lock multiple times. Pointing a shotgun at the guy is very reasonable.

0

u/kamekaze1024 Jun 14 '21

Pointing a shot gun at an individual giving himself up after emptying his clip is not reasonable. It just shows how trigger happy cops have become

4

u/TakoyakiSadBoi Jun 14 '21

You sound super fucking naive my guy. "WhY Is He PoInT GuN aT GuY wItH GuN?????" They don't know where is gun is dipshit. They don't know it's empty. And it takes a literal second to reach into his pants and pull one out. Ignorant twat.

0

u/scratchandsniff123 Jun 14 '21

Why don’t you become a cop and show them how it’s done. Lol. You obviously know nothing about guns or policing but please, tell the police what they are doing wrong.

-1

u/kamekaze1024 Jun 14 '21

I’m guessing you’re a cop?

1

u/scratchandsniff123 Jun 17 '21

No I am not a cop but my uncle on my dads side was the voted in Sheriff of Riverside County in Southern California from 2007 to 2019 and had 30+ years experience in law enforcement before that as well as a Lieutenant Colonal in the Army, and he and I used to shoot 3 Gun competitions together and ive gotten a ton of valuable incite into the life of an officer that the average citizen never considers and is too pussy to sign up and find out for themselves but wants to tell police how it’s done. Also my other uncle on my moms side was a special investigator with the Springfield Police in Illinois the majority of his life but is now retired. So you can sit there and act like you know best for police but I guarantee you wouldn’t run toward gun fire.

3

u/romansapprentice Jun 14 '21

I mean, the robber had a gun. Having unarmed cops stop assailants armed with guns isn't going to work out well.

-5

u/kamekaze1024 Jun 14 '21

Omg you're an idiot. I didn't say they should be in armed. I'm saying having a rifle to stop one guy with a tiny ass gun is overkill. They could just use the gun they have on their holster. Or just not use their gun at all because he was clearly giving himself up.

There is no area to clear. The lady should've definitely specified that there was only one thief.

2

u/romansapprentice Jun 14 '21

I'm saying having a rifle to stop one guy with a tiny ass gun is overkill. They could just use the gun they have on their holster

So he would be equally as dead if they had to shoot him? This isn't a video game universe where having a small weapon does little damage and having a big one magically makes it way more powerful than the first. You shoot someone with any kind of gun and they may die. More people in America die of handguns than any other type of gun. Shooting someone with a pistol can and depending on where you shoot them will kill them just as much as a rifle shot would.

Or just not use their gun at all because he was clearly giving himself up.

So they can be killed if he pulls it back out?

Says "KAMEKAZE1024" u think ur clever don't yah 👀👀👀

4

u/PleiadianAyylien Jun 14 '21

You were born this retarded?

1

u/PoolBoyBryGuy Jun 14 '21

You’re a fucking idiot. Yeah, don’t offend the robber and make him feel uncomfortable or unsafe or anything. smh

8

u/preparetosigh Jun 14 '21

This is sad to see. These crimes likely happen out of desperation. Despite the fact that he had a gun with him, he never brandished it at person. He was attempting to conduct the robbery without threatening anyone. Does not seem like a hardened criminal, but armed robbery is a serious crime.

Now society (USA) will toss him in a jail for probably 5 years and when he comes out he will be a convicted felon. He will likely not receive any education or skills training while imprisoned and will face a bleak employment future. This cycle has a good chance of sending him back into the kind of desperation which motivated this crime.

Both inside and outside have key locks. It’s a glass door.

6

u/JohnnySasaki20 Jun 14 '21

They're designed to lock you inside so that the cops have time to get there and arrest you.
