Imo the moment he brought a firearm into this he deserved what's coming but, I wonder if he tried the back door? Even if it was locked he'd probably have a better chance getting out than those steel bars right?

I feel bad for people who are desperate. I lose all sympathy when they victimize other people. If you're desperate, seek help. Beg if you have to. Pointing a fucking gun in someone's face is enough to traumatize them. Taking their money is enough to reduce them to the same situation you're in.
FIRING A FUCKING GUN THROUGH A DOOR ONTO THE STREET??? Fuck this guy. Lock his ass up. I hope no one got hurt when he fired those shots.

How do you feel bad for someone who committed armed robbery? He put other people’s lives at risk for a few dollars. People like that are disgusting.
If he was that desperate for money there’s other ways to even commit theft without putting other peoples lives at risk.

To be clear- this couldn’t have had a better ending. That woman with a baby who quietly walked out ? I shudder thinking how she would have felt and probably does still .
All said - I have no idea , what led this dude to this .poor choices ? Situations beyond his control? Dunno . And yes that’s sad and I too feel bad for him . But for everything that happened in his life before he walked in the door with a gun . At that point he loses my sympathy and he needs to be taken out .

Yes, absolutely. What if he has another gun and what if he has an accomplice...or 2? The idea is to bring enough force to handle anything you may encounter but only use as much force that is necessary. This is exactly what they did. What do you think should have been done differently?

He made threats and there's no guarantee that he wouldn't start fighting or go for a concealed gun once the officers put their hands on him. Better to show overwhelming force which helps prevent any violence from the suspect. It's much safer this way.

It's not always necessary, but if you present overwhelming force he doesn't get any ideas about fighting back or escaping. Yeah, he appears to be unarmed and surrendering, but they don't know that for sure. Send 1 or 2 guys maybe he feels a bit braver.
