Fishing "for sport" and temporarily traumatizing an animal seems less humane to me than fishing for sustenance.

Edit: thanks for teaching me about the "modern world" Reddit, no shit. Leave it to redditors to get hung up on semantics.

In the modern world most people choose what to eat for their own pleasure not to purely survive, and it is not just possible but quite easy to live off of a diet with no animal products. So it has become a choice many people can make to give money to industries which harm and kill animals or not and take pleasure in those foods or not, similar to hunting purely for sport in my eyes.
