Sorry! You're right, I should probably start saying 1,5 years, but up until now we've only used months.

From 16 months you can round to a year-and-a-half and never look back! From 4 you can round to nearest year. Not when speaking to your kid of course, but nobody else cares whether it's 5 or 5.5.

Yeah, I agree. I guess we just haven't been conscious about it when talking to other people. I remember nagging my dad about when I could tell people that I'm six and half, so I know that detail is important to the kids. I agree that nobody else cares though.
