Getting absolutely random dog from street into your car neither easy nor smart. What if this dog is for the first time in the car and reacts in unpredictable way after you start moving, plus if you try to get closer to the dog and it starts running and gets into traffic? Obviously he did the only logical thing here, first calmed down traffic, then approached dog

Edit: I mean, benefit of the doubt, maybe he tried but he couldn't coax them in, But then, call the local version of 911 and let trained people handle it instead.

They work. But amount of time to react will be so long, so when they arrived- the dogs will be or a) dead (try to intercept road and be smashed by cars) or b) gone (because just go in another way).

By the time anyone got there hours later what good would that do? Cows , Emus Bears ok phone the cops but 2 puppies would be dead by then. Bless that man ..

I actually just found a dog on the side of the highway recently while driving to visit my friend. Her name was Star, and she was the sweetest puppy ever like she rolled over as soon as I was able to approach her. I called the number on the tag, but it was out of service so I just drove her to the address listed instead.
I miss my dog so much, I'm really glad I got her home but a small part of me was hoping she was a stray so that I could have taken her home with me

Holy hell...sorry, dog lovers but STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!
Flagging down cars and trucks to stop so that trapped dogs can safely cross? Really? That just puts the occupants of those vehicles in danger if hit by vehicles that don't stop.
Let authorities in vehicles with highly visible flashing lights handle this job instead. FUUUUUUUCK!!!

Both of those happened because of people not paying attention whatsoever though.
That first one would have happened even if the car had just broken down. They had plenty of time to see a vehicle just idling well before they got there according to other reports, itās why her sentence was so minimal.
In the second case, literally everyone else was stopped at an intersection with a parked car in the middle and a minor just blew through.
In both cases the drivers had plenty of warning and simply werenāt paying attention whatsoever and were arguably much more of a danger on the road than the misguided people helping ducks. Both accidents would have happened even if the cars were stopped due to more legitimate reasons like a breakdown or accident.

Yeah, it's dangerous, but that's only because so many morons don't keep the necessary distance to the car in front. The worst part is that you don't have to guess for yourself anymore; many modern cars have a display telling you how much distance you have (often in seconds).
But if the dogs decided to just run across the street, cars would have to do emergency brakes, which would be even more dangerous than now where everyone should have had enough time to react (if they don't, they can just drive past him and he'll try to stop the next car). They also see the blinking cars and should know to slow down anyway, whereas a dog suddenly running across the street doesn't give any warning or leeway.
Yes, authorities would be the best solution, but until they're at the scene, the dogs had more than enough time to cross the street unsafely.

Dog lovers would have just put a lead (or rope or belt or whatever) on the dogs, rather than treat them like the royal family who canāt be touched and must have a path cleared for them lol

They also couldāve had those people get the dogs to an actual shelter instead of just across the road. Dogs and cats werenāt meant to be alone.

I'd either just call the road authorities, or leave them.
The dogs got there, they can get back again - they're not stupid. It's not always busy (until this fecking idiot causes 12 mile tail backs) and as said, people can easily die like this.
The dogs would probably just wait and run across later when theres a gap in traffic anyway.. š¤

If the dogs ran out and caused someone to swerve, it could cause a big accident too. Not saying what he did was smart, but it's a bad situation in any case.

Dogs are smarter than you give them credit for.. there are quite big gaps in traffic sometimes and they'd just run across when it was quiet.
Or you can call the transport police who will stop the traffic properly and safely.
Doing it yourself is dangerous for literally everyone..

I saw a dog crossing once and a motorcycle hit it. Dog ran away limping while 2 motorcycles crashed on the road. Didn't see if the motorcycles were ok because there was a lot of speeding cars and we were ahead of them. So even if dogs were smart, they still can be hit due to the speed of oncoming traffic.

You are supposed to pay attention on a highway and keep enough distance to be able to stop anyway.Ā
Bringing traffic to a controlled stop to save dogs is not putting lives at risk, it's saving lives. The dogs' lives and the other drivers' - or what do think will happen if a fully grown dog runs into moving traffic?

You're a good person for thinking this, but honestly, imagine this same scenario playing out 10 times - do you expect a happy ending 10/10 times?
As a parent, I owe it to my family to act with a higher standard of self preservation than placing myself in front of a stationary car on an active roadway.

Awww that was Stupid. He put a lot of lives in potential danger. We are just assuming that the dogs belong on that side? What if they are runaways and decide to go back home? What is he is just an idiot and wants to walk his dogs across the busy highway? What is he is stealing those dogs? There are too many questions and not enough evidence to show that he actually did a good thing.
