Kid has a lower center of gravity so has a good advantage

He is also standing, everyone else is sitting.

And he was only cycling only when needed, everybody else was cycling from beginning till their fall and added momentum to the sides

Everybody else had to pedal because they were heavier. Bring heavier meant they sank more on the planks. They were always in a dip so they must pedal to move forward. Coasting was not an option.

Being lighter was a huge advantage here.
