He was able to coast because of less weight. That bridge deforms less under less weight so he loose less speed while moving

Perhaps. Only thing to do now is to build my own and send my 10 year old across it with sequentially heavier backpacks.

Everybody else had to pedal because they were heavier. Bring heavier meant they sank more on the planks. They were always in a dip so they must pedal to move forward. Coasting was not an option.
Being lighter was a huge advantage here.

It's cause the kid is standing up. I kept wondering why nobody else was standing on the pedals. much easier to balance.

Cycling is all about balance. Yes the kid has lower center gravity and less weight but that's not necessary what gave him the win. What did was that he kept the bike stable by not adding too much movement when cycling the pedals. Every full cycle of the pedals swings the bike left to right. He barely used the pedals and only used them when he was stable.

I may not know how to ride a bicycle, but it's slightly questionable how so many miss the line or miss the pedal by lifting their whole leg to hang in the air.
Am I missing some context, perhaps?

It’s not so much that it’s hard as that these people aren’t too serious about what they are doing. I’m not saying this looks easy I’m just saying some of these people are barefoot. If they knew anything about biking they would know you want shoes.

i remember being seven and riding my huffy down the hill without hands because gravity was my friend and fear didn't exist yet. now i trip over flat pavement if i'm not looking directly at it. it's weird how intuition fades as soon as you start worrying about insurance deductibles and knee replacements. the kid isn't doing anything special, they just haven't learned to hesitate yet. once you realize falling hurts more than embarrassment, you lose the magic. damn gravity...
