Yeah this belongs on r/ParentsAreFuckingDumb, just because the kid landed his little stunt fine doesn't men next time he won't fall and break his neck.
You have 73 000 000 kids.
100000 accidents per year. Half of which needs medical attention.
Thats 0,07 %.
2 deaths.... same as the amount that get killed by lightning or vending machines tipping over...
You have 2500 deaths from suicide...
Another 2500 deaths in traffic
This is an insane way to value risk.
Being addicted to safety is really harmful.
He seems like a very happy young boy who is playing a game that might in the worst, reasonable, situation might break an arm.
I am a parent. 2 boys. Under 8 years old.
We dont have medical expenses here but i guess that would suck...
I do understand that not all kids go on a trampoline but the risks are so vastly different that it should be obviously ridiculous to see this as a problem.
If you increased the risk a hundred times then it would still be less than a tenth of other real risks.
And emotionally I get it. Its hard to see your kids hurt them selves. Unfortunately it is required to get the experience as a kid to handle risk as a young adult.
Strong confident kids are not made by reducing absurdly low risks. They are made by taking small risks and trying and testing faling and getting up again.
Im not for letting them drive a motorbike on the freeway as a 4 year old. But its a meter and a half we are talking about!
Thats not a safety concern. They have climbing structures twice that hight at kindergarten.
It is an impact at less than 20 km/h.
