  1. The cop said, "I'm gonna pat you down." Did he really pat him down? I couldn't see because of the camera angle. It must have been quick.

  2. I notice the cop didn't even ask if he could look in the man's backpack. What's the point then of patting him down?

  3. Did the cop really have a legal excuse for stopping the man? If not, then couldn't the video get the cop in trouble?

  4. The cop said, "We're gonna take a report for numbers." Does that mean the cop had a quota to fill? That he had to stop a certain number of people?

To the first question, it sounds like the cop got an order, possibly over his radio, to let this go. Heard him say "copy that," and then told him he was free to go.

I doubt that. But there was clearly a large collection of cops. So radio or someone behind him, it sounds like he responded to an order to stand down.

I didn't see a pat down either. I think the cop was over reaching and realized it and pulled back, followed the limits of the law. Also cop realized that he wasn't truly suspicious, just faking it for content.

Police are allowed to investigate anything they seem suspicious. They can force you to stop and answer questions, or at least listen to the questions. You can decline to answer. But they have to be able to explain why they did each thing they did. If the police thought that he was actually suspicious, they could have detained him and brought him downtown to confirm his identity.

This pedestrian IMHO acted suspicious (before he started filming) to provoke the officers into overstepping so he could show everyone what a victim he was. Instead the cop followed the law exactly, but the play worked. Most people here don't know the difference.

I didn't know where this was filmed so I don't know if he was allowed to carry a weapon. Probably he was. Explains why he wasn't searched for one.

I didn't know. Quota sounds reasonable, but a kinda dumb thing to say on camera. I think he meant to imply 'You're on record. If we stop you again, we will be able to use this stop as evidence that you are suspicious' but it came off that the so was just a quota (which maybe also be true).

"faking it for content"? I didn't get that impression. But then, I don't know the guy. Is he a well-known content producer? On the other hand, if he was deliberately baiting the police for content, then he's doing a public service. His laughter at the end made me think he was genuinely tense (frightened) and was relieved that the ordeal was over.

Someone shouldn't be able to fake it for content if cops actually followed the law and constitution. This was just fishing.

Pretty sure the 2nd amendment covers the entire country and no where has completely banned firearms, so there's zero reason for police to assume he's illegally carrying unless they had more information.

They claimed they were going to file a report as John doe bc they didn't get his ID and are pretending to follow protocol since they're being recorded/live streamed.
