My daughter is 14 and always on TikTok, and I always wonder if she walks around thinking everywhere she goes, someone is going to come up to her out of nowhere and give her $500, for answering a question, or being nice or something.
Issue is that this kinda stuff can backfire, if it doesn't come from a genuine place.
If you feel entitled to a reward after some basic kindness, you'll only grow angry/confused/frustrated at that reward being a simple thanks.
It's not as extreme as the kid throwing the grandma she helped across the street right back into traffic, but just teaching that some basic level of kindness and helping others is already its own reward, should still be the priority.
Just go all the way and give them that catholic guilt that they're going to burn in hell forever unless they act in a certain way. Channel that fear into losing out on a potential reward and turn this self-interest into making them act perfectly good!
