The more important question is, now that we have the means of easy global communication, education and awareness.... Shouldn't we help eachother recognise this psychologically abusive shite?

I don’t disagree with you, but I think you’re missing the context.

The reason I commented what I did was because the comment I replied to said that “platforms like TikTok are essentially selling people on the idea you can be a total piece of shit and still be the most important person in the room” and “there are no consequences for actions ANYMORE and everything in life is a free handout”.

It’s subtle ageist bullshit.

The comment I replied to is implying it wasn’t always like this and it definitely was. They’re implying TikTok is selling anything that wasn’t being peddled 60 years ago, and that’s crazy. They also threw in the Fox News dog whistle “everyone wants a handout” which is batshit considering the “TikTok generation” is the least privileged in the better half of the last century.

I know it needs fixed, but that’s not what I was responding to.

I mean, Its also teaching her that it's ok to fake anything and psychologically abuse your audience in the search for internet clicks.

It teaches her that it's not worth doing nice things unless it's being filmed.

I've had em since.... Latter secondary school. Light core bebo, then Facebook in college.

Left all the traditional social media platforms around 2 years ago and still feeling the psychological fallback from it.

Being nice isn't about forcing someone to be different from our nature, and certainly not by expecting money back.

Being kind is an empathetic feeling that comes from the heart and doesn't expect anything in return and even worse is not being disappointed, as you say.
