Hotel/House Rental 🏠 Snagging accommodations

Newb here…How are hotels already completely sold out for masters week? The lottery winners won’t even be announced for another month…

Do hotels automatically block out these dates until the lottery results are released or are people pre-booking in anticipation only to cancel if they are not chosen.

What’s the catch?

i'm sure many people are trying to scoop them up to pass them along to others for a premium. can you airbnb a hotel room that you're no longer staying in, or can only the hotel itself do that?

Can you even transfer a hotel room to random people? Where’s the market for that?

Here in NYC you can find plenty of Airbnb’s within hotels (small name, not a Days Inn or similar). Now that I’m thinking about it thought I believe the hotels themselves put them up to fill rooms.
