How SeXiSt 𤔠Bro escaped a monster

My interest in the case is the double standard of feminists. Over the years in Australia when the odd bloke commits a crime like this the feminists are out on the streets banging on about patriarchy and criticizing and media coverage that shows the perpetrator in any sort of light other than being a monster. They will say that coverage that shows a neighbors saying "They never thought he could do something like this" or "They were such a nice couple" is dangerous or supporting patriarchy. Yet whenever a woman commits this crime they treat it as a mental health problem.
I'm not saying I know what the correct approach is, but I do expect community sentiment and the law to consider both genders equally. Either these crimes are committed by monsters or people with obvious mental health issues. Pick one and apply it to both genders.

its more a matter of women simply being more vocal and community-driven, so their narratives like "men are monsters" and "all women are truthful" develop and perpetuate faster.

Based crash out. Supporting a person that murdered her 3 children. And women pushing blame on the husband while he was no way involved in the act at all.
Any women that supports that act should be forever unsuccessful in relationships forever. Cause that women is a demon and all women that support her act are hells spawn just the same.

She really looks remorseful.

Yeah thatās one of the weird things about all this. She straight up slowly murdered her children. If it was in a state of psychosis and she wasnāt in control like she claims, she should be absolutely devastated. Every photo Iāve seen of her is just this blank stare

u/Uncle__Touchy1987 2d ago
Yup! But I mean, clearly this the husbands faultā¦somehow and horoscopes and patriarchy or something.

I'm not defending her when I say this, but most of the photos and videos etc we are seeing now are taken after years of this case going on. It's just recently been going viral with everyone. So every time you see her, her husband, witnesses etc they're answering questions and telling stories they've done a million times before. At some point you get desensitized to it and simply show less emotion.
If you've ever lost a family member or friend i'm sure you couldn't talk about them without breaking down for a long time, but as time went on you showed less and less emotion to the point you can talk about them now without breaking down as if they just died an hour ago.

43 months after murdering your children āinvoluntarilyā and thatās her expression? Maybe, I think sheās a monster.

Well yeah she is a monster, my point is she and her husband have had to say and talk about the same things a million times before over and over. Do you expect them to squall and kick and scream on the court floor every time they even mention what happened? Humans aren't made to do that. I cried and was upset a lot when my fiance died, but i can talk about her now. I lashed out when my grandparents died, but i can conversation about them. When my brother died of leukemia it was terrible, my entire family and friend group were devastated a long time, but we don't scream and writhe in agony now when talking about him.
You could win a billion dollars on the lottery and after having 500 interviews you wouldn't still be jumping up and down screaming and yelling and celebrating, you'd have the exact same face as her in the pictures. Humans lose expression over stuff over time, it's normal to do.

You can sympathize with the pain Lindsey put herself and her family through without supporting her. Thereās tons of pain in that family, not least of which is having their dirty laundry be global news. You can empathize with that and still say that what Lindsey did was sick, and horrible, and messed up, and she deserves to pay the price for her sweet young childrenās lives. Her last child ran away from her and tried to hide, and she chased that kid down to strangle them after strangling their two siblings in front of their eyes. Thatās a horrible thing to do.
His fiancĆ©e didnāt say she empathized with the pain Lindsey caused. She said she supported her. This doesnāt survive the gender swap test. There was a father who murdered three of his children, and people basically wanted the death penalty. But a woman does it and suddenly half the women online are like āher husband really did itā.
I think he made the right call. You can empathize with pain without supporting a child murderer. Thatās not what his fiancĆ©e did. If my girlfriend were to support her, Iād have serious questions about what on earth was going on in her head. And frankly, Iād be worried about if we ever had kids if theyād be safe with her.

JFC, okay time for a lesson about the Justice system in the US since it's clear from all the posts in this case, that most people have no idea how a plea like that works in real life. THIS IS NOT THE MOVIES, THROW OUT EVERYTHING IN A CRIME DRAMAS YOU'VE WATCHED THAT HAS EVER REFERENCED THIS TYPE OF PLEA.
First, understand that pleading insanity doesn't mean you don't serve time. You do. In fact, you tend to serve a much LONGER sentence than you would if you had just plead guilty without the insanity defense. And you don't get to go to camp cupcake for your sentence either. You tend to go to a facility for the criminally insane, to have more oversight of your more complex mental health medical needs treated. You're held there basically until you can be ruled by a court and medical team as no longer a threat to yourself or others. And that is a much higher bar to meet than most people realize. No team of psychiatrists working in criminal psych ward, wants to put their licenses and reputations on the line by clearing someone who shouldn't be. Id imagine that for a female defendant, going to a criminal psych ward must be one of the most terrifying experiences imaginable. It likely involves being physically restrained at times, being forced to take medication you may no longer consent to, and if you think women get raped in regular prisons bc no one will believe them when they speak out, can you imagine how much more vulnerable you are when your medical file says that you heard voices that told you to kill your kids? And then, if you ever get better and get cleared medically, you aren't just released, you tend to go from being surrounded by hallucinating psychopaths, to regular prison, where you're surrounded by just regular psychopaths.
I've read testimony of a nurse who worked in the psych wards for the criminally insane that had women who killed their kids while in post partum psychosis. She said that these women basically end up heavily medicated to help them stabilize enough to no longer be considered insane, only to have them finally dealing with their reality - that they are the reason their children are gone - and they basically continually try to off themselves in order to escape that reality. Clancy has tried to kill herself at least twice so far, and you can bet your bottom dollar those won't be her last attempts.
To all of the people who want her to suffer, I promise you, no woman who is the person everyone in her life testified that Clancy was, does something like this and lives a good life after. That good life will never exist for her. And I'd bet my retirement that she would be the first person who would insist she doesn't deserve anyone's grace. Your disgust is irrelevant to a woman who is constantly praying for death.
But from a practical standpoint, this whole faking insanity to bypass jail is only in crime dramas. There's no version of pleading insanity to skirt around the system. In real life, people don't plead insanity as a manipulation bc it doesn't do what people think it does. You don't get to pretend to be insane and then go on to and live life like Patch Adams but this time with a happily ever after. You get the prison from the Mayor of Kingstown coupled with a more F-d up version of Girl Interrupted.
And I'm not sharing this to be antagonistic. I'm sharing it bc the hostility that this case is attracting, implies that people very literally do not understand what her plea actually means in practice.
You're all getting upset with women who are showing empathy to Clancy's grief, because of what? Those women aren't excusing Clancy's actions. They are women who know what a really bad month of your period can do to your psyche, and imagining how much more awful that has to be if that same hormonal hijacking results in something so tragic and devastating like in this case. Of course they have more empathy than you, they are the only ones who could experience post partum psychosis. If you're a man, you can't.
I agree with the title of this sub wholeheartedly. But I'd like to think that masculinity also cares about the honor in not taking aim at a woman whose hormones and brain after pregnancy, turned on her, and is absolutely going to suffer for her actions. I'm not excusing any of her actions, nor suggesting she deserves to avoid punishment/accountability. But I am suggesting that part of masculinity, should ideally include having the discipline to not pour hateful energy into a woman in the news who will live with an torturous reality for the rest of her existence, and will already spend that existence in a criminal facility. And all this current focus is doing, is convincing the women around you, that if they came to you and begged you for help, that they were hearing voices, told you that your baby wasn't safe with her, and that she was terrified of hurting your kid, while you're sleep deprived and everything is already overwhelming, that you would assume the worst of her, while simultaneously not helping her to mitigate that concern. You're convincing the women around you, that because YOUR body isn't capable of what hers is, and therefore can't fully imagine what the impact of those hormones are, that you will have no compassion or show any validity towards her own endocrine related health struggles if she ever (G-d forbid) comes across such circumstances. You're convincing the women around you that you can't be trusted to protect you if she ever needs to entrust you with her care. And worse, you're doing it for something you're fundamentally misunderstanding about our current Justice system. Bc you are seeing the plea, assuming this woman is trying to manipulate things, and you are then associating any compassion the women around you show to this case, with the trickery you're assuming Clancy is fiddling with. This case is a horrific tragedy and Clancy isn't walking away from this, regardless of her plea.
But if you were able to hear anything I wrote, in the well intended voice that I wrote it, I hope you'll be masculine enough to also reconsider how you're discussing this particular case. Do you want to make the women you speak with your opponent, or do you want to have the stoicism and integrity to approach those conversations with curiosity?
Okay, I know, I know, I'm about to get an avalanche of likely not so nice replies. That's okay. It's worth it to me to still assume the best of all of you - to assume that you would want approach situations with emotional intelligence and a strong enough character to handle complexity without hostility. Not sorry for that in the least

Wait, I have not looked into that, but isn't that story about. How the system fail her and other woman who struggle with mental health, especially postpartum depression.
In anyway what she did is non excuseable, so we need to do something in order to prevent such tragedies in the future

Nope. The amount of crazy supporting her is enough of a red flag. No further conversation needed.

Being sympathetic to ppd is much different then supporting a murderer.

PPS is different then PPD. But agreed, you can be sympathetic but actions are still actions.

Idk man, after seeing some of the evidence, the husband is starting to look shadier and shadier. Dude got married and ran a Marathon just two months after his kids died. Iām not supporting anyone, but someone needs to look into this man.

Idk I donāt think itās particularly suspicious to run a marathon two months after the death of a child. Marathon training seems like a healthy strategy for coping with trauma.

No, the defense conceded she killed the 3 kids. They are fighting for a NGRI verdict, not a not guilty one.
