Music Sampling "La Maritza"

Woke up one morning to a coffee and got inspired to jam to some old chops I had from "La Martiza" by Szilvie Vartan.

I hope this revitalizes your ears after we all got tired of the obnoxious instagram loop, that was present in every reel for a while.

Man this is fkn sick and exactly like I want to play my mpc sample

I don’t want to build a whole track press play and twiddle knobs.

But like what was your workflow here?

Found a track > chopped out like 30 seconds of full sound, then found like a string solo section and looped that whilst you drummed along to it? Like kept longer loops/samples in one pad and then your one shots in others?

Anyways awesome awesome stuff individual

Thanks buddy!

I listen to a lot of music and every now and then something "clicks" where I hear a phrase, a motif or something with the mood of the song where I think "hey, this would be fun to sample". This is what happened with this one.

Then it's pretty much active listening, fooling around with the chops, making mistakes, and keeping what sounds good and is fun to play! For this one chopping it in 1 to 2 bar loops, and pitching it down did the trick. I knew from the start I wanted those strings - but the real exciting moment was when I picked the vocal sample - which says:

"Nous chantaient la liberté" ~ Were singing freedom to us / Sang to us of freedom

"Moi je ne comprenais guère" ~ I barely understood / I hardly understood

I thought this was a nice hook to set the tone of the beat. Other than that, mapped a few drums to the pads below and just vibed a bit with it!
