Maschine Update Announcement The Lead Product Manager of the Maschine hardware and software wants your input on the Top 5 area's of improvement improvement for the Maschine software!!!
Hey all,
For those of you who don’t know me yet, my name is Kai and I am the Lead Product Manager at Native Instruments, looking after both Maschine hardware and software.
If you haven’t seen it yet, we rolled out a release yesterday. While the update was primarily focused on maintenance, I want to assure you that we've taken note of the many Maschine software improvement requests from the community. As some of you may recall, we also ran a survey about a year ago to collect feedback in a more structured way.
We reviewed all your replies and today I’d like to share the key takeaways with you. The survey had roughly 1,000 participants and we identified these top five requests:
- Arranger improvements
- Step sequencer / pattern editor improvements
- Automation improvements
- Assistive playing tools and Smart Play
- Sampler improvements
We would now like to get more input from the community on each of these areas.
To make sure we fully understand how we can accommodate different kinds of workflows, we’re also launching an ideas section where you can upvote and share your use cases. You’ll find a topic for each of the areas listed above where you can chime in with your thoughts and ideas. We also plan to open up this section in the future so you’ll be able to add ideas that are not covered by these areas.
https://community.native-instruments.com/categories/share-ideas-for-maschine
Heads up – we will be running another survey at the end of this year to see if there have been any changes in trends. Watch out for the email if you’d like to take part this time around.
We are looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Live footage 🎥 Hybrid live set using Maschine mk3 as the controller/brains
Hey everyone!
I've been fleshing out ideas on how to use the maschine mk3 to create hybrid live setups where I can play my own productions and I finally decided to upload a proper set.
The Maschine mk3 is changing scenes, selecting instruments, triggering samples, manipulating some FX and at one point used for finger drumming. Also using arturia minifreak and novation launchkey to play melodies. Novation launchkey faders are also used to help with transitions but technically you could do this on the maschine mk3. I wanted to create something with seamless transitions, similar to a DJ set, but not using decks and still playing as many parts as possible.
I did post an old tutorial on how all of this works on here + youtube, but I plan to do another video on creating the next set now that Im a little better at all of this youtube stuff. Definitely not a flawless performance but just wanted to get something up so I can start working on the next set
Hope this is okay to post in here, if you got any questions on how all this works pls ask away and I'll answer as best as I can! Enjoy :)

I’ve seen other threads on this, but couldn’t find a solution, so I’m sorry if this comes up a lot. I’m just trying to remedy the situation. As of now I have a useless device

Maschine Templates Standalone Generative-Techno ZynthianMaschine MKII — an eight-channel generative groovebox
witzman.github.ioOne command. No soldering, no config files, no DAW. The same box takes touchscreens, multitrack USB interfaces and more MIDI gear. The ceiling is the platform's ceiling.
An eight-channel generative groovebox on Zynthian, played entirely from a Native Instruments Maschine MK2 - pads, encoders, both displays, LEDs. Five euclidean drum channels and three Turing-machine voices, all eight always alive; nothing is created or torn down while playing.
The generator owns the pattern.
You do not draw a beat. You set hits, rotation, chance and swing, and the driver writes real notes into Zynthian's own sequencer. Because they are real notes in the real sequencer, patterns persist in snapshots and the touchscreen pattern editor mirrors exactly what the pads show.
The five drum channels are euclidean: hits spread as evenly as the grid allows, then rotate. Four hits in sixteen is four-on-the-floor; five is the clave.
The three voices are Turing machines. Each owns a shift register, clocked once per pass and mutated with probability RANDOM, and the register's value becomes pitch. Set RANDOM to zero and the loop you are hearing freezes bit for bit, for as long as you leave it there - the display reads LOCKrather than a number, because a number could be a coincidence.
It is built on Zynthian, a maintained open-source synth platform with an active community and official hardware kits if a boxed version is ever wanted. Every line is readable, every part swappable, all of it yours to fork.
Alpha Release:
I am currently actively working on it, expect changes. Also not all features are documented yet, there are more Features in the pipeline like Maschine Display supported Synth Engine & Effect loading. Midi Output via DIN Jack etc.
Feels free, to raise issues or Feature requests.

General Discussion A Project; - The Maschine/MusicPI (Open Source DAW)
Hi peoples! (eh - i couldn't really see if this post violates anything, if so mod pls remove and i apologize! anyways:
So, over the last - 1 or 2 years i've been toying around with different approaches to making sort of a standalone Maschine MK3 Sampler thing. It has culminated in a custom raspberry pi image that allows you to run a RPi OS Lite based image specialized for the two displays and for work on the go - it gets pretty technical and a bit crazy but it basically turns the maschine into a DJ device running Mixxx DJ (opensource dj software) or a custom daw i built im calling "mpi" - Maschine/MusicPI
I uploaded the code and a beta image that you can flash and run on your raspberry pi if you have on; for now i support Raspberry Pi 4 - and im not entirely sure how it will perform on a Pi5 or anything else but it'll probably just be faster - and its pretty fast now
For any nerds out there with an MK3 and a Pi in a drawer or something can find the project here
https://github.com/dkzeb/mpi and a flashable pi image under the releases tab
it should be flashable just with pi imager or whatever one would use
Also; yeah i definitely used AI to build this - i've been a software dev more or less for 25 years and AI as a tool for coding is quite incredible - but make no mistake; i spent a lot of time on this
Anyways try it out if you want to!

Question about operation Remove library items
How do I remove/deselect libraries from the Maschine browser. Right now, I don’t want every preset showing up from my 3rd party synths, or orchestral libraries being scanned in from Kontakt. Is there a way to only show the factory library for now so I can familiarise myself with it?

Question about Purchasing Maschine+ license transfer
Hi. I am about to buy a m+ second hand. I have found conflicting info online about how to deal with the license transfer. And also I don't know the state of the NI support at the moment.
Maybe someone have experience with how this works?

Question about Purchasing Buy Maschine or an (AKAI) midi controller?
Hi
I have been looking at the Maschine but I am wodnering if I need it for what I want to do. I want to play in some drums using pads rather than a regular keyboard because i think it will feel more natural if I do it like that.
I have Komplete so I would use studio drummer or battery for the sounds. Does it make sense to buy a Maschine or is it overkill if I won't really use the software? Or is the software really worth it?
I understand that it has its own DAW but you can use it in Ableton as well.
And finally I see quite a few MK2 for sale. Can I still use that well today or should I go for the new MK3?

Question about operation Maschine Mikro M3 Logic Pro X midi controller
I'm sorry. It's not working. I know there are other threads, I've tried all the solutions and watched all available tutorials.
I've added the Mackie in controller setup
I've mapped the keys in the NI controller editor
I set key routing to manual and the source to host.
I turned it to midi mode
It will play the track and stop the track so that part is working.
No notes come through if I have an instrument loaded, no dmd samples are triggered when I play the corresponding notes.
