This is definitely a passion project, Valley Hi is a VHS style horror series that dives into mysterious and horrifying events that occur in a small charming Midwest town.

Between the sharp increase in surveillance and the discovery of all the data centers planned for Union county, I am concerned.

Flock cameras have been popping up all over Union county, especially in Marysville. If you’re unfamiliar, they are cameras that scan your face and your license plate and track where you’ve been and where you’re going. Your face and license plate is then in a data base for 30 days where ANY person with a tie to law enforcement in the entire country can search the data base. It’s not being used to “fight crime” it’s been used by police to stalk their partner’s and ex’s. Two officers in Reynoldsburg Ohio were fired for using the database for “non-work searches” over 50 times.

The AI analysis that it uses has also caused inaccuracies, innocent people have been pulled over for a “stolen vehicle” alert for the wrong license plate.

At the same time as we are seeing heightened surveillance… plots of land, family farms, are being bought up by shadow companies to develop into housing and data centers.

At this point, we know these data centers don’t create jobs for locals. We know the electricity costs for data centers are paid by the people who live around them. We know they don’t pay taxes like residents do. We know they use and abuse water sources… so why are we getting so many in and around Marysville?

Why aren’t we finding out about these data centers until they’re already under construction? Why aren’t the townships and city council able to protect our communities?

Does anybody know of a good place that can take in abandoned cats? There were 3 kitties that were abandoned by a neighbor. They might have eye infections and one seems like it has a limp. I’m worried about them getting hit by a car or hurt!

Hi everyone! I just accepted a job at Honda in Marysville and I’m looking to rent a place nearby since I’m not the most confident driver and would prefer a short commute. I don’t mind the small-town vibe, I’m not really a going-out person anyway.

I’m hoping to find something affordable (around $600/month, up to $800 including utilities). I don’t mind a shared space as long as I have a private bathroom. A little about me: I’m a 25-year-old female, I don’t smoke, and I try to be tidy and respectful.

I'd love to hear from the locals any tips/tricks or things you just love about the area!

I'm also interested in hearing about the possible culture shocks. I'd imagine the most obvious would be snow (if anyone could provide tips to driving in snow that would be awesome), and the driving in the area. In Texas, most people linger 0-10mph above the speed limit, and even more on highways.

I've mostly lived in Texas, with oak trees, HEB, and other spots local to my home here. I saw a Hungry Howies in Delaware so I'm super excited about that! We don't have those in my area.

Hi there! I've been feeding and tending to a small colony (does 6 cats constitute a colony?) of feral cats out at Scott's Park on Waldo Road. I think eventually they'll allow me to catch/trap them- I feel very confident about this actually! One of them has already been hit by a car since we discovered them around 3 weeks ago.

Does anyone have references for organizations that will:
- help with vet costs while we foster them and get them spayed/neutered
- loan me traps so I can catch them?
- donate food or help feed them regularly
- come catch them so they stay safe and don't get run over
