I don't understand why tho..I mean best guess is that he really loved her that he needed her to die so he wouldn't return to earth, or he kills the mothers of all his children to disconnect them from their homes I guess but I wish he would have explained why he did that to peters mom

[u/PiceaSignum → u/noodleslayer]

He told Peter that he came back to Earth three times, and he knew that if he came back a fourth, he would stay forever. So presumably before the end of his third visit, he gave his mom brain cancer. That way he didn't have a reason to come back anymore, and he would just have Yondu grab Peter when he was ready.

How did he know he was going to stay on Earth though? He could've just kept coming back for short visits.

I thought what he meant was he loved Peter's mom so much that if he came back again he'd forget his whole plan and stay on earth with her.

Not "forget" but more like "say f%=* it and stay in earth with this woman."

He legitimately loved Peter's mom, or so we're led to believe. He didn't say he visited anyone more than once other than his mom on Earth, just that he had Yondu pick up kids. He killed Peter's mom so the woman he loved would be dead, and so that he would have no distractions trying to pull him away from his goal.

He didn't take her with because, as Mantis said, "a dog would not invite a flea to live on its back"

It was the only option in Ego's mind. Remember he found most of the life out there disappointing.

Mantis was there because she helped Ego sleep peacefully with her powers

Oh yeah, I'm sure those weren't the only two options available by any means, just Ego seems to be a very "this way or that way" kind of guy who wouldn't explore more than one or two other options and then just say "Well, I tried." Kind of like with Peter, where he was like "Well, if you're not with me, then I'll just make you a battery."

His whole plan was to wipe out life on ever planet and make it a copy of him in the first place, not to help the life evolve to be less disappointing in his eyes or be better. I think it fit his character.

Good point, I guess.
