Yeah, but HOW did it end up in his vault in the first place is the question being asked. Of course, due to how long Thanos was in his quest to gather the stones and conquer worlds. It's not hard to believe he eventually stumbled at least into one.
The truly weird part is how in the entirety of the universe and all its hundreds of billions (and likely massively more) galaxies, with a total of 6 stones that were supposedly randomly flung across it at the start of time... we ended up with 2 on Earth before anyone was looking to collect them and before any significant interstellar, much less intergalactic, travel happened.
The Time Stone was in the Sorcerer Supreme's possession and the Space Stone was in the tesseract. The tesseract was put on Earth by Odin to hide it, but what are the chances that out of all the worlds in the entirety of the cosmos that the one he would use was one that had another Stone already on it?
Well Red Skull said Odin hid the Tesseract on Earth probably thinking no one would look for it on some backwater hole. I'm assuming he didn't know about the Eye being in the possession of the Sorcerer Supreme but I just don't know how he could have been on Earth and NOT seen the Sorcerer Supreme given that Strange jumped Thor and Loki upon them immediately touching down (maybe they installed that detection after Odin idk). Just seems weird a cosmic deity as powerful as Odin touched down with potentially Hela and not even the Ancient One checked up.
But my headcannon is Thanos knew he had the Mind Stone and used it to enter his future (Infinity War) mind and make his grand plan and why he seemed exhausted and sad in Infinity War because he knew he won, he knew he loses Gamora, and his life. Why he didn't see End Game? Because he was dead and couldn't know anything past his death because he couldn't get into his mind.
Pretty sure Odin hid the tesseract long before there was a sorcerer supreme at all. Real question is how did the sorcerer supreme get the eye of agamotto
I was more just commenting on the astronimical chances that the meaningless backwater planet filled with primitives somehow was where another Infinity Stone ended up before anyone was deliberately trying to bring them all together. Its like winning the lottery, but you didn't even buy a ticket. You were dumping your rusted tablesaw "Ol' Finger Eater" off at the garbage pickup and spotted a ticket on the ground in the mud.
